Had a damned good game today... but didn't win.
The cards were great but they never lasted. I raised hard UTG with my QQs, the K comes out and I'm put into a situation where I made the right fold to his KQ. Then I have to fold my JJ to a suited flop. (He played my raise with a 5s9s, it happens) and THEN I fold my FLOPPED STRAIGHT to a flush on the turn. I eventually lost because all these hands happened in order to cripple my stack, but it's ok since I know I played fairly well.

Sometimes, a great game outweighs the money. You played that well from that brief description.
My great game recently was the freeroll Horse tourney at FT either sunday or Monday. First hour I did ok, 2 and 3rd hour were dream like perfection. By the 3rd break I had 2x chip lead over 2nd place. It was near imposible to lose with the cards that were flowing like from a Hollywood screenplay. I could have left and been in the money no problem, probably even made the final table as a ghost. However. I was having a good time. My cards did not stop flowing, nor did my play diminish. What happened was that other peoples cards got better than my great cards. Bubbled out in 29th place loosing my 22233 full house to quad 3's in omaha hi/lo. I do not think I played this wrong at all. There was no reason to think he had quads, and I pretty well know he had no read on me having the boat. The biggest thing I did wrong here was after this hand I wrote publicly "I curse the Poker Gods". I may never recover from that blunder...... |
