Guilt Dilemma

Alright, so I'm playing poker with several friends, nothing too big, I think overall there was about 60-70 dollars between everyone. I ended up gaining a very good chip lead, with a friend being short on my stack by about $10. Eventually, it came to a point where I had a full house and decided to look weak on the river. My friend said "all-in" and I snap called right as he was saying "just kidding" (he's done that before in a very joking manner and we accept that), but the problem is that there was no obvious mannerism that hinted that he was joking. I ended winning and cleared his pot out, but I feel bad even though when I called him I was under the impression he was trying to muscle me out. Thoughts?

reminds me of a pub tourny i was in yrs ago,
I was many drinks in by the beginning and would call ALLIN very loud (for the pub and my friends at all the tables to hear (I was getting laughs))
i was doing well, and during this one hand (i knew i had villian beat)
I do my ALLIN, unfortunately for me, I didnt notice this one player on my left who was still in,and called- I just wanted to allin the shortstack guy, so much for that game

Well, in a game among friends, you need to set some very clear guidelines that everyone understands. There are rules in Poker and they should be followed and enforced. Make this clear.

I play to win, and I dont care if its a friend or a stranger, I want to profit from my opponents mistakes. And calling all-in is committing yourself. That is the rule. So no guilt there. Your friend needs to know that calling all in (or shouting "I have a bomb" at an airport) have their consequences.

if your thinking like that don,t play poker with ur mates. there is nothing i like more than busting my m8s in a game. all poker rules apply no exceptions

This is what I was going to say. All-in is not a funny joke in a poker game.

Back in the day before online poker was even on the radar, we used to have a home game a few times a month with our neighbor. His dad would play with us sometimes, and he was a STICKLER for keeping the game serious. We always played dealer choice, and if the dealer got silly with the wild cards and such when they called their game, he would get pissed and say, "That's not poker!" and sit out until it got back to a 'true' game. So my point is that if someone tried this at our game, they wouldn't be getting their chips back, and none of us would feel bad (and we were all really good friends).

If your friend thinks that is funny, he needs a lesson in etiquette. And looks like you taught him one.
