Grudges allowed?

well everywhere in life I have been bullied and it was one of the things that got me into poker. in employment people can pick on me take advantage and push me around but in poker no one can deny me, I get what I deserve or so I thought.

See when I started in poker I didn't know what I was doing and one guy kept taunting me getting me on tilt won some money of me then made me the ridicule of an entire public forum. I found every time I logged onto pokerstars I was been insulted and ridiculed. It seemed more then half the pokerstars community knew about this because there was always someone ridiculing me.

Even to this day I get bullied by individuals from liquid poker online they re raise me a lot when I try to enter pots and generally try to take me out and ruin my profit even if, (which it is vast majorty of the time) negative money to them.

I eventually learned how to fight back and this died down after on a limit holdem session $1/2 blinds I ended up taking $200 of one of them when they kept trying this. If someones going to give you lots of action you just tighten up and take it when it good.

but one thing I was thinking if I ever get one of these guys on the final table of a major tournament, and I am healthy chip stacked and they are short stacked, Would I potentially get into trouble for refusing all deals until they are busted from the table? and publicly saying in the chat that, thats what I am doing. Would such grudges and personal vendettas be allowed.

Refusing a deal is not a grudge or vendetta - it is your choice.

Yep seems you are letting the past get to you, poker is better played with least emotion as possible, read Zen and the art of poker is a good read.

Btw nearly everyone is bullied in their life, let it go.

Refusing a deal is not considered unacceptable behaviour.

Now, if you were to offer to do something unspeakable to his sister .....

Grudges, vengeance and vendettas (talking mindsets here) do not work well for one at the table mostly, IMHO; they are akin to slow steaming, and can lead to incorrect play. Bad EV. Bad bad.

Hit yourself on the head with a stick for me, at least once a day, in the spirit... you will become stronger, grasshopper... do not react.... act... (ouch!)

I think if your in a FT of a large tournament, you should do what is best in your interest and not thinking about grudges or past feuds.

i had a grudge motivate me once in a freeroll. someone cooked me a NICE dinner...i played the first 15 mins of a freeroll, i think i doubled up, then dinner was ready and i sat out. i came back to see the blinds are pretty big and i have 300 chips left, sweet, AQ on the BB...i call the raise of the guy who's got the biggest stack at the table...had only been back long enough to see he's playing every hand and just getting lucky, very agg play. he had a suited AJ, i won with trip Q's, cool. he said "lol, f a g". no prob. suited 78 on the sb, he raises mid pos again of course, i go ahead and call with the shove. he's got 3J or something and i get a pair of 7's and win. he said "fn idiot, you won't last long, i got you", then he said "lol"...then someone else gets knocked out, the table collapses. i wouldn't have cared but i thought "i have got to stick around long enough to see someone knock this guy out"

needless to say, i pick up a few more wins, of course i'm still shortstacked, but its getting late and oh my...i end up at the same table as him, he has a little bit bigger stack than he had but not much bigger, an hour later. i doubled up off him again! then he got in a re-raise war with someone with a bigger stack...only he had a Q4(or5) and went all in and lost to whatever the other guy had and he said "omg you fn donk!" and you know what i said "lol"...i couldn't resist. he said "lol???" then he stuck around and cussed me for a few mins at which point i just kept my mouth shut. no i didn't finish in the money, no, i didn't last much longer...but he was my motivation to stick around in a tourney i didn't even care about

grudges are allowed, just, don't let them affect how you play. play your game, if it makes you look timid, you'll get them, or someone else will eventually. i've noticed at times while i'm getting picked on by someone, thinking i'm going to fold every blind to them, when it seems my high card is 5 every time they do it...they seem to forget someone else all ready hopped in the hand and it comes back to bite them...don't pick fights with 3 ppl just because the 1 jerk you want is in the mix

I used to get bullied, it was tormenting and continious until one day i starting laughing at my bully. It descended into hysterics and im sure this is not the effect that the oppressor desired to elicit. Suffice to say it was he who went away from my ordeal with the majority of fear.

I've noticed this before that I just want to outlast someone that's bothering me. That, in itself, is a form of tilt, I can see now. Best not to get involved with that kind of thinking.

^^^This. Don't concentrate on the negatives, if someone says something that offends you mute their chat and ignore them. You need to concentrate on the game, on the moment, not what others are saying. Good Luck, practice, it will get better.

Lol I know where your coming from but I will bite just because im half cut lol.

For much of my life I have been bullied, many of these bullies I could have delt with physically before I became disabled, but I decided since I hate violence (exept in movies, boxing, wrestling, mma, judo etc ) I would let it wash over me.

Now when I play poker I can deal with the name calling, at first It was a case of well I am going to beat this player who has called me a name and 90% of the time I would. Then I realised I played soooooo tight just to try and bust this player it hurt my overall game. Ok so I outlast said players but how do I win if I just say ok my aim is to see you go, and by the way I never said anything else but gg as the left, and you know what they usally said the same. Ok, some peeps go down wishing I had AIDS etc but most just give a gg in reply. In most sports/games emotions can destroy you.
