Oh, I used to be under the illusion that adults actually cared about more than themselves. Turns out, other than some rare cases, that's not the case. Also, keep in mind that many of the people ARE teenagers. Actually, just the other day playing stud in HORSE I had this Canadian guy insulting America because of a bad play (which it probably was, I'm not good at stud, but that's why I was playing at the lowest limits possible, looking for FPPs to clear my bonus). Stuff like "America sucks, just read the newspapers.", "everyone hates Americans, they chase and suck out all the time". I just laughed. Let them rant, if it really gets ugly report them or just mute them. Words never hurt anyone, and although it wasn't the case there, at the NLHE tables I know I'm probably better than them anyway, and they'll go on tilt trying to attack me and play worse. Whenever someone's emotions get the best of them, they play worse. When they play worse, you win. Last I checked that's the goal of poker

everybody does hate us americans, but it is not important because we all must continue to focus on our 2 main goals. they are of course loving Jesus and fighting terrorism. I think that winning the foreigners money is a big plus in the fight against evil

As for the OP, I was thinking of creating a thread similar to this one for a while but never really got around to it.

My opinion: People that are rude are just jealous of our amazing online poker playing skillz and apparently our nationalities (even though I have never had a case where I was verbally abused for being an American). They are jealous and just wish they could play poker as awesome as us. IMHO

I was playing COD4 on xbox live the other night, now there is a battle ground of abuse between UK vs US vs the Rest of Europe...

Despite what people are trying to make my image into, I am a very thoughtful, albeit, self centered person. I do care about the young' uns on these sites and coined a nick name for myself- scoopenupthefish.

Silly me, the nicer I am, the more people dislike me. Go figure...

here's some name calling for ya.......lol.....and I relish the opportunity. Anytime someone says something derogatory to you respond with something along the lines of:

Thank you or I love you or where have you been all my life or geez I wish you would have scooped that pot........etc. I've actually got people to tilt even harder by being the opposite of what they expect.

Classics

When someones cussing at me or complaining about some donkey move I have made (hey it happens), I just type "ty". They usually either shut up or ask why I'm thanking them. If they ask, I tell them because usually you have to pay to learn in poker, but here I am getting paid and they're teaching me. Usually 2-3 hands later they're all in with 2 6 os or something.

Sometimes I tell people "Jesus loves you", after they make an especially stupid play. It takes them off guard a bit, then they say "I know".

But I stand by it. If it's true the lord protects babies and fools, then Jesus truly adores the guy who pushes all-in with the aforementioned 2/6 os and wins.

Even when I was stalked on FT to 2 tables by a sore loser I just turned off observer chat.

After getting put out of a sit n go on pokerstars yesterday i wished everyone GL before i left and got a response of

" go away stupid, you lost"

to what i responded " and i probably shall many more times, but i'll still keep my happy disposition at least "
