The Grand Slam of Poker Golf and Tennis each have their Grand Slams. 4 Major tournaments each year where the best and brightest battle it out for immortality. Do you see poker joining them soon? With the conclusion of the EPT Grand Finale last week and the WPT Championship coming up in the next few weeks, I could see the following happen in the next year or two. Grand Slam of Poker: Aussie Millions EPT Grand Finale WPT Championship WSOP Main Event Obviously, it would be nearly impossible to actually win the Grand Slam. Probably just making the final tables in those 4 tourneys would be the rough equivalent of winning all 4 in Golf or Tennis.

Currently, CardPlayer has the most respect amongst the points systems. I might want to discount the WSOP, stange as that sounds, but it is as much lottory as test of skill. I do predict that Joe Hachem will be the last enduring winner of the main event. I think from here on out it will mostly be flashes in the pan (flash in the pans ?). I hope I am wrong, but it is THE crazy event.

re: The Grand Slam of Poker I like this idea. It probably already is known by the pros, the WPT and the WSOP championships at least for sure, as the major events to win in poker. You don't really need a points system joose, its just like a recognition of winning a "major" event. People start keeping track of how many majors people have won in golf or tennis, I think, and that's what they could do in poker. But like OP said, more like to keep track of major final tables also, along with the wins (if someone can win multiple majors).

Yeah CardPlayer has their POTY points system, but I have yet to see anyone classify the 4 events above as "The Grand Slam of Poker". Certainly there were some top names that did not compete at the Aussie Millions or EPT Grand Finale. Maybe if it was classified as the GSOP, they would.

the U.S. Poker champioship (or whatever that other event they play on ESPN is called) could be another one.... as well as the National Heads Up Championship could be one, but not everyone can play in that... I like the idea though Last edited by palmer2000e : 8th April 2007 at 2:55 AM.

re: The Grand Slam of Poker I realize this isn't the point, but each of the four individual tournaments in golf are considered a "major" and in tennis a "grand slam". The reason they're considered bigger and better is because the field and play is tighter, conditions tougher, skills are valued, and an outrageous amount of prize money is awarded to the winner compared to the other tournaments. This idea of basically marketing a "grand slam" of poker is a wonderful idea in my opinion, but you would have to essentially grant "tour/membership cards" or some type of membership so that everyone and anyone just can't walk in and play because they have money. They would have to qualify before hand to a limited number of spots. Maybe 5% of the field would be "amateur" non-member qualifiers. To do this, you would have to drastically up the prize money and entrance fee because every tournament is giving away big money these days. What do you guys/ladies think?
