Good poker, bad results I have been playing great poker lately, but FT does not seem to want me to win. I have been getting some rough suck outs lately. I know I am playing good poker. I look over all the hands that I go out on, and I really wouldn't play them any other way. I am losing some 95% hands, and can't win a flip. My bankroll is suffering due to this. Do you guys suggest I take a break even though I feel like I am on my game? I just don't see how someone could have this cold of a run...lol thanx

re: Poker & Good poker, bad results Whatever you may think about poker variance, you're seriously underestimating it. Since you write "I look over all the hands that I go out on", i assume you play tournaments. You need to play literally thousands and thousands of those to get anywhere near your long term expectation. Either switch to cash or learn to embrace the fact you're playing a game where luck has a really big impact.

I don't really know how you play so what can I say. Only notes I actually do have on you are >> in early levels completes SB w J6o, donkbets POT (4way flop) on J88 flop, gets called, fires 2nd barrel near POT bet, gets called (hu),.. minbets brick on rivr.. & calls big raise (umm... yup.. you lost that one.. BB had an '8')

re: Poker & Good poker, bad results Tournaments are like lottery... Variance can kill you thousands of times when you are 80%+ favorite and you may never reach a final table in MTT or you could be unbelievably lucky like those idiots who won the WSOP - Jamie Gold or Jerry Yang Elky had a really good run last year and he was eliminated AA vs KK when the other guy hit a King. Elky is one of the best tournament players, but he really needs to be lucky to win a big tournament. That's why most poker professionals play cash games. There's no luck involved in the cash games. It's 100% skill when you are playing thousands of hands.
