Good Book ... thanks ChuckTs...

ChuckTs recommended "The Poker Mindset" as have others in the past to me ... Thanks for recommending this book, I picked it up this morning and have read a bit of it already, and already enjoy the topics and what they've outlined for the book. If you take your poker seriously or are prone to letting life+poker put you on tilt, this book has some great concepts to help deal with that stuff (aka for ME).

I also have a few new rules for myself ...

1) I will never ever play poker again when sick and medicated. I still can't believe I did that yesterday. Lesson learned.

2) I will not post to CC or my blog within 2 hours of a session. Too often I write with my emotions and not from an objective perspective. It's misleading to myself and my friends here at CC.

I've heard alot of the top posters and winning players mention this as one of their favorite reads....Pool will be "gettin his mind straight" as well. Hope this helps you along Ice You seem to be on the right path and in long run a winning player who is able to overcome variance that is after all inevitable in poker. Best of luck with your poker !

lol guess I was the only one who didn't much like it. It certainly has a few good parts, but overall I thought it was a waste of like 250 pages, just is so redundant, more extensive review forthcoming.

lol guess it probably is the kind of book that stats-exclusive players would think was a "waste".

As for a "more extensive review": Been there. Done that. 5 months ago.

Why so hostile? I didn't crap on it, I am not a "stats-exclusive" player. I just have a differing opinion. Last I checked, most movies have multiple people review them. Some like it, some hate it. None are correct. I simply have a differing opinion and stated that I would expand on it so it's not simply thought of as "crap[ping] on it". I know what he posted and was simply giving my opinion. Last I checked, that's what the idea of a forum was.

I'm about halfway through the book and so far I think its pretty good. Definitely has helped me out a bit with my tilt/anger problems.

biggest things I got from the book related to patience/dealing with tilt and something i can only vaguely refer to as zen.

I do agree with you though Zach - a lot of it is very redundant. I find myself very confused at times reading it thinking I've already read that section before, but they just repeat some shit. Maybe that's why it's taking me so long to get through.

I'd still say it's a must-read for any non-pro though.
