A golden opportunity ruined! You know how players take turns dealing the cards when the are on the button. Occassionally, a card flips over face up when the hole cards are dealt. Usually when this happens in my weekly tournament, it is left face up and that would be the kill card so when the flop comes the dealer just starts with the first card on top of the deck. This was this one time where I was at the table and there was this one player who struggled with the game, porbably still learning. Usually we are patient with these type of players but at this particular hand, we got really frustrated. This player was the dealer and as she was dealing the cards one accidentally went face up. It was . I really felt bad for the player that would 've had that in his hand. We left it face up. We explained to her that when it was time to do the flop, you just flip the first three cards without killing a card. Apparently, she wasn't listening fully becuase immediately after we explained this, she flipped three cards over. Players were still making bets preflop and almost everyone yelled "No!" The flop was: . He would've had trip aces. We had to do a redeal. I'm surprised he was calm about it even though you could tell he was upset. One player said that is that was his hand he would have ringed her neck. That is a bit harsh. After all, she is still learning. Still, that sucked.

yeah, thats a rough one, but she didn't *mean* to do it, so you sorta have to write it off as "stuff happens." oh well. the only thing that irritates me (about card players in general, but typically new players) are the players who have no table etiquette. after being asked to wait for your turn to ask repeatedly, and *still* acting out of turn really bugs me. as does holding up the table while trying to order a drink (at local live tourneys). just wait til you're out of a hand then order, please. the worst thing, though, is the person who, after the hand is over, will LOOK AT YOUR CARDS after you've mucked them!!! i knew an *experienced player* who would periodically check people's hands after they had won a pot and discarded their hand. i told him straight up if i ever caught him doing that again, id ask the tournament director to eject him. (to me, it's tantamount to cheating.) so... if they goof up on accident, no big deal. if they should know better... they may get an earful from me.

The flashed card becomes the "Burn" card, the dealer DOES NOT deal a second card to that player but when he finished the deal the card that should have been the burn card is given to that player. The flop is then dealt WITHOUT a further burn card when the time comes. If it happens a second time in the same deal its a re-deal. Other rules you may be interested in on the same theme: If a card ends up on the floor then it is an automatic re-deal. If when dealing the flop the burn card is exposed by mistake then it is re-shuffled into the remainder of the deck, then dealing the of the community cards continues. These are genrally accepted rules everywhere i play, best thing to do is to announce any rules (or ask) before you start playing. Hope this helps.
