God i hate AA So Im at this 1k tourny up at Turning Stone Casino in NY and its a little into the toury and i get dealt AA in the BB. 3 limpers and i raise. All call and the Flop come QJ6 (2 hearts) the SB checks and i bet, everyone folds the the SB who goes all in, covering me. I call and he show J8 off. Turn is a K and the river comes an 8. giving him 2 pair. I hate AA

You made the right move...don't beat yourself up. He's a donkey and just went all-in on a J and doesn't know what he's doing...people do that all the time. We all get bad beats like that...you made the right move. And I think this thread should be moved to the Tourney hands thread if ya can mods!

Augh! Why do people say they hate AA? No one hates AA. No one. AA is the hand you pray you get dealt every time the cards come. I do not believe there is one person who plays hold 'em that doesnt think to themselves "C'mon Aces. Please, just one time!" So, I dont believe that anyone hates AA. You might hate losing to a suckout when you have AA. You might hate losing with AA because you misplayed your hand. (The OP didnt.) This is different than actually hating AA. You might hate losing with AA, but you dont actually hate the hand. If you truly do hate AA, does this mean you will fold every AA you get dealt from now on? Probably not. But you hate AA, right...so why wouldnt you fold them. Just auto-muck it and dont worry about losing with it. I guess the same could be said with hands like AK and probably every other A/x hand. You already hate AA, I dont see how you could enjoy A/x.

re: God i hate AA poker yeah but what do you do when you get delt like 27 and theres some other factor that you could actually call, im talking live, in a cash game if you find that 27 may be good, do you still fold, if its a hand people hate to get, why do people still play and sometimes win with it?

it's not just AA but all hands after the flop where you have the best hand go all in and someone makes a bad call and they get lucky on the turn or river. That is poker and the reason it's called gambling. it sucks when you are on the losing end, but man it's awesome when you win

Most of the time, especially in a live cash game, Im throwing 27 into the muck. Very rarely will there be a situation in a live cash game where I would call with 27. I'd even fold in the small blind and save half a blind. Its not a hand that worth investing any money on, but in some situations any hand can be played; usually in tournaments. I dont think there is anything wrong with playing a hand like 27 or any other hand. And there isn't any rule book that says players can play hands like these... |
