Getting worse with time.
After having a small amount of money in my account earned through freerolls and bonus offers, I had been playing low limit games on PS. I was playing $0.01/$0.02 NLHE mostly. That is, until I lost a bit and went off the tank and threw the few dollars I had earned into games I couldn't afford to lose. Despite my intellectual knowledge of bankroll management I just wasn't able to keep myself from doing something stupid.
Now, as I return to freerolls, I find myself playing too loose, bluffing too often, and worst of all suspecting bluffs too often from my opposition. After the half dozen books I've read, and the countless online forum posts I've viewed, I'm appauled at my results. Ironically, the source of my poor play may be the very books I depended on at one time. While Phil Gordon's Little Green Book, Super System 2, The Theory of Poker, The Mathematics of Poker, and all else I've read have provided me with important information I feel I've either relied too much on them or completely deviated. I'm looking too much at my immediate results and my play has suffered. I've never been too much a fan of tournaments because of the time required to invest in them before seeing the slightest of profit. But the patience required to see long term results from your tournament investments may be just the thing to help me regain my composure and start back on the freeroll path that will lead me up to "better" games. No, there is no real question posited by this post. But if you have any advice on how to frame my mind or my play it would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and see you at the tables. |
