| Getting sucked out on(while sucking out)?? this complicated subject title means quite simply "getting a bad beat u brought on yourself" Now how many times were u in a situation where someone raised in early position while u were holding i hand like K Q or K J, an you called just to be flushed out by a j-2 suited, OR maybe u raised with A-8 when the flop came 8-2-4, betting on top pair best kicker just to be drawn all in, by a maniac who plays junk, who happens to be betting the low pair...and the maniac catches his 2nd pair or set on the river Now at what points should you hold yourself accountable for these losses? Well, in the first example, maybe not calling all in outta postion (even if you know the player is loose) with anything less than KK or AA or maybe QQ The second, speaks to playing with weak aces..u may have flopped top pair, but playin that hand is what got u in trouble. Consider the man who slow played pocket aces and lost to a hand like 7-2 offsuit...did he catch a bad beat or did he ruin his chance for even blind/ante money by letting the other guy catch up? |

| I rarely slowplay big hands. But when I do, I will tell myself to muck it when I don't like the board (i.e. a possible flush / straight / set / boat). Sometimes I even listen to myself. Once, I preflop raised AA properly, I got called by 7 2 os who hit 7 2 on the flop. But usually, bad beats are my own fault. |
