Getting moved to a new table

Anybody know if there is any rhyme or reason to getting moved? I have been moved so I'm big blind for 3 consecutive hands. Alot more of 2 consecutive. Shouldn't the software know this and put you in the same position that you were at? When the blinds are small, it's no big deal, but when you get down to the final 6 tables or so it can be a huge deal.

Aaaaaarghhhh I know the feeling. Microgaming software is the pits when it comes to being moved. I had a run in a while ago with our local poker site because of that and they gave me some long winded explanation about the blinds - by the time I had finished reading the poo they wrote I was dizzy! They must think that I am encephalographically challenged to believe their drivel!

Personally I think they have a big red button with my name on it! Only kidding

But I also feel that it messes up my whole game when they do it as often as this particular microgaming site does. Besides the fact that you mentally lose it cos of the extra blinds eating away at your hard earned chip stack, you have to go to a table where the other players are at an advantage having picked up a bit about each others styles etc.

The sites I play at if they move you to one of those positions they don't actually take the blinds from you, and you don't start playing again until the button.

I agree with you totally that the software should know where they are putting you and that no one in a tournament should be moved 3 consecutive times these sites need to reazlie this.

which site it is?usually there will be 3 consecutive moveing table but without blinds.may be it happened by accident.it you meet that case often.then just leave that site.

Yeah, I've seen that lots of times, I think usually when they put you in the small blind seat. I know you can't come in as the small blind, you have to sit out that hand, which is fine. But you can come in as the big blind, and it really sucks when you were just big blind at your last table for 1/4 of your stack and then they do it again. And again. Does this happen in live tourneys? I would hope not. I know U.B. used to take forever when they were breaking tables. (Seriously, like 5 minutes). That was with their old software, though, before they went to Cerius. Maybe they were trying to avoid these situations, I don't know.

You know, it's almost just as bad when they move you where you have one or two hands before you are the big blind again, especially on a nine or ten person table. I just think they should put you exactly where you were to make things fair.

I don't think there's really any logic in the program when they move you. I jumped from table to table 5 hands never getting to play. The screwed up thing about the jumping around was the 5th jump because I ended up exactly at the same table and seat I started from. Told everyone I thought I entered the Twilight Zone.

It is quite a big deal. IT is such now that they could easily solve this problem by better programming. I had the same problem on a site and it cost me because we were pretty much on the buble and the blinds were 4000. The blinds ate up my chips and I ended up having to go all in with A rag to try and stay in the game.

Too funny. Or not. Also, I've noticed that when you make the final table they deal one card for button position on some sites, but not all. Again, anyone know how it's handled in a live tournament?

UB was horrible. I haven't played their freerolls in months, not since the new move (I just play the Cardschat and some Omaha cash games). But the first couple breaks were brutal. Suddenly, you'd get this "waiting for 148 tables to finish". You'd think there was no way 1 hand could take 5 minutes. To make matters worse, you would never know how long it would take, so people get up have a smoke, make a sandwich. Then when the game starts again, no one is back, so wait, wait, wait...

That's pretty funny, especially when you wind up at the exact same seat at the table. But better you don't get a chance to play than to be stuck in the blinds with junk 3x in a row.

Actually, there is logic in the program, at least at Full Tilt there is. When they pull you from a table, it is because you are in a seat/position that needs to replaced at another table. And they always err in your favor when it's not the exact same seat (i.e. letting you skip the blinds).

The only times you might get unlucky is when it is your own table that is broken up. Not sure the software still looks to stick every player in the same spot - surely it is hard to do when the field gets much smaller. To clarify, I know they do all this at Full Tilt, and probably at Poker Stars. Smaller sites might not care as much to ensure their software is that perfectly fair, but I can't say for sure.

I know that they move the big stacks to table with other big stacks trying to keep balance and people from having a monopoly on a table. But in my experience i get the bad end of a move, becuase they would move me just past my blinds right back into the blinds, and this sucks especially when you are short stack and the blinds are high. I think they should have rules to prevent things like that

Last week in a freeroll at Poker Royale I got moved to a new table , was not dealt cards, yet they took $50 from my stack for the ante! That was unbelievable! Anyone ever had that happen?

Live games go by whatever the House Rules are. In 'most' cases I've seen, the high card, or first ace, is used to determine the FT button. I have also seen seating cards used. You draw a seat card face down from the table and they have seat numbers on them. The one you pick is the seat you get and the button starts in either the next position it would have been for that table or with first seat to left of the dealer.

Wow, I wish keeping a balance was true. I play 90+% on Stars and Full Tilt and you are likely to receive a monster stack player at any open seat, and I've been moved to tables where there was only 1 or 2 monster stacks and the rest were struggling to stay alive.

I have -0- complaints about how Stars and FT move people. Rarely is it multiple moves, you just notice it more when it happens to you. Stars and FT are excellent about not moving you into double blind situations and when you are, you must wait for the button to pass you by. In the long run (over 2 years), I would have to say that I have gained better positions more often than losing.

The one I noticed, even after Cerius was initialized, UB will do a double-up blind on players. Really ticks me off. I wrote to UB support and got a really lame-arsed reply. They have no intention of changing it either.

Nope, I would be livid - but again - Good reason why I stick with major sites that know about things like - poker ... ... and I never have to deal with problems like these. No site is perfect by any means, but the major sites do make an effort - the smaller ones seem to be too busy counting their rake to care about customers.

It has happened to me in a micro tourney once that I can remember.
I was in LP, 2 players got knocked out at the table I was at, then "boom", I got moved to a table that was in the middle of a hand, when the hand was over and another player went out I was moved again.
I had been moved twice without playing a hand.

A good software does try to put you in a spot close to where you came from, but it is not always possible.
And YES, it sux big time having to pay the blinds too often...lol, that even took me out of a tourney once...

a lots of time it happen to me the same think,i've been moved a lot of time and i put the bb 2-3 even 4 time consecutive! i don't think is right,but i don't think that the software is thinking so....this is on line poker!

u have to have balanced table in a pokercomp,otherwise its unfair..i no its annoying wen u get moved but thats just poker....be cuase the fields get so large in comps online now and theres a lotta allins poeple goin out 10 at a time ,,even more 20 perhaps if they never balanced tables then the comp wudd end up a shootout comp for each tables,,which wudd give better players a big advantage ..with less players at there table

and that's the way it is handled in the tournaments I play in at our local casino, too.

I just can't stand having to learn a new table, there are times where I spend hours working on a player(typically a large stack, but a less than stellar player), only to get moved to a new table...It can really kill your momentum to get shifted around like that.

At the start of a tourney it is pretty insignificant but late on it is really a problem. Deep in a Stars tourney, I paid my blinds got moved on to another table. Went through one circuit on that, paying my blinds and then got moved back to the same seat on the table I had left, positioned 2 seats before the blinds. This is no joke when the blinds are 6000/3000 with 600 ante and you can't really play anything but top 5 on the second table if you dont know the players and their styles.

Which site you play on?? that's pretty messed up...

I've had that too on a microgaming site - almost popped a vein when I saw it but when I turned my chat to "full detail" it said that the ante was returned to me, so have been watching it and it has in fact been returned when this happens. So maybe you could just do that in the future and see if they do return your ante?

I must have a lable on me "Move Him First".

It sure doesn't help your Table Image, Position or Blinds.
