Getting beat by people who draw out!!!!!

Hey, just now i'm playing 5 seater 2.50 tournys on bet365, i've not been doing to bad, allways getting to at least 3rd (where you get your money back less the house money of 25c) and coming at least runner up 50% of the time.

I play tight and fairly aggressive (i think ) and have a problem which is REALLY starting to annoy me. If I flop top pair with a good kicker but there is a possible straight/flush draw there i usually bet about 1/2, 3/4's of the pot to try and protect my top pair and stop people trying to draw their straight or flush, if i still have top pair after the turn i do the same, the way i see it is that if i had a straight draw i wouldn't call 3/4s of the pot to see if i can catch it, odds must say that your not a favourite if the raiser actually has something (thats an educated guess!) but lately i keep getting beaten by people hitting their straight/flush on the river, after having nothing but a draw at the flop and the turn, even when i've been betting big all the way through the hand!

I don't think its a good idea to put the majority of my chips in when i've got nothing but a flush/straight draw, but a lot of the people i'm playing against seem to think it is and they keep getting paid off by their gamble!

Am i a bad player or are they and how do you beat people like this! I was thinking that if i move up in the stakes the players will get better and less of them would do this kind of thing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Count the times a chaser didn't hit his hand and either folded on the river or bluffed at you when they've missed their draw. That should well cover your losses on being sucked out. Just make it expensive enough. Sometimes you'll lose, and it's frustrating... but you should be making money off of these chasers calling without correct odds.

Also, when you know they're chasing... they'll have little to none implied odds. Since you know what they're playing.
