Full Tilt's new super turbo's...

300 starting chips, 3 minute levels, and a full on crapshoot.

So i accidentaly registered for a $14 9 man super turbo tonight, thought it was a regular (turbo) Sit'n go... Guess the alcohol got the better of me, and missed the fine print. But i actually believe that drunk is the best way to play these types of tournaments. I took down 1st for $67 and after about only 20 minutes of play.

I was shocked when the tournament was over, dumbfounded almost. I doubled up early on w/ AK, Again w/ 88, and before i knew it i was HU w/ a major chip lead. Dealt 24o in BB and flop was A35, villian limped pre and shoved JJ on the flop and obv. i was happy to call. I will probably never play another one of the sit'n goes again, but just curious what everyone else thinks about them... if anyone's been misfortunate enough to play one...

I tried a couple of these. It is hardly poker. It is more like bingo. More fodder for the donks to graze on.

This is the second time I've seen someone post about these and I have yet to ever see one scheduled. Are they run at a certain time or something? Not that I want to play in one mind you, just curious to watch one.

I accidentally registered for one of these as well. Lucked into third, don't plan to play one again unless I have a very short time period in which I feel compelled to gamble (like the terribly-structured SNG at the Luxor I played on purpose so I'd be sure not to miss my plane).

IIRC blinds started at 15/30, so everyone was in shoving range from the outset.

Effexor - there are several in the SNG lobby right now at various buy-ins. They're marked the same as the turbos, but the tournament lobbies have the super turbo info. Look for the ones that have buy-ins that are a little different than the standard turbos (such as $7+, $3.50+, $14+).

I'm a fan of them. I'd play more if I could resolve my FullTilt disconnect problem.

In spite of the disconnects I've ITMed about half of the one's I've played. Fold pretty much everything until you get down to 5-6, then shove whenever you think you can pick up the blinds or have a hand that stands a chance against your opponent's calling range.

I think most of them are SnGs, not regular tournaments, so have a look on that list.

I've played one (also by accident) - entered a $2 single-table satellite to an MSOP event, only to find out that it was a super-turbo and it was playing limit Omaha8. I basically just capped every hand and ended up winning the seat somehow. LOLZ ensued.

congrats on the win, but you said it all = sounds like the dumbest thing ever and that's barely poker. what if for 15 hands you get dealt jack high or worse. GG. regular turbos barely qualify as poker in my book esp when # of peeps goes past 18.

Oh fine, now I've decided to take another shot at them. Two losses and one win so far. I do like the fact that these are 10-20 minute games. Not a whole lot of decisions to make so they're easy to play while I get work done, which is how I've been playing a lot of my poker lately.

Definitely falls under the "fun" category, though.

And I find the play entertaining sometimes, in the same way I sometimes find freerolls entertaining to watch the questionable play.

In one, first hand UTG shoves, I call in late position with AA. UTG open-shoved T5s

Last night, early position limp, late position shove, blind calls shove, limper calls shove. Limper has J8o

Actually, it'd be interesting to look at some $/hour earn rates from these. They might give you bigger swings than regular games, but if you can cash regularly enough and they only take a maximum of 20 minutes to finish...

Yeah, I was interested in this as well. I was running a little math on them. If you could average 50 games per hour at the $14+1's with a modest 5% ROI that's like $35/hour.

Oz, I don't know about hourly rates, but after 50 of the $3.50 I've ITMed 48% and have an ROI of 19%, which is actually a better ROI than I have overall at the $1 or $2 SnGs on Tilt ... I know you've played those same ones and I've been meaning to mention these to you.

A few more of these and I'm gonna see what rate I get at the $7 ones, but I'm more of a bankroll nit with SnGs that with ring games.

Yup, I like the idea of the blinds starting at a reasonable level, not sure they need to go up *quite* so quickly afterwards though! Perhaps a format where blinds are (mainly) determined by how many people are left?

I'm always being told that "when the blinds are large it's all fairly random" but I feel I've got a big edge over the field when blinds are large - they just don't understand how aggressive you have to be. It will be interesting to see if you guys can comfortably beat the rake over a long period at this format.

well you will need a huge sample size as these will be very high varience.

I actually wouldn't mind playing a MTT with this structure... It would run fairly fast, and due to this the play at the final table would require a lot more skill that at the beginning. Plus everyone would have to shift their strategy from high card's and pp= shove, which is usually how it goes in the beginning. Maybe a 45-90 man Sit'n Go would work...

Got my aces cracked in the 2nd hand of the sit and go. I will never play it again.

I've been playing these over the past few days, and I know it's a small sample size but here are my results so far:

Games played - 31
Cashes - 18 (includes 4 wins)
ROI - 44.8%
Total hours played - 7.33
Hourly rate - $8.11

This is all $3.80 games, plus one $7.50 and one $15. The $15 was the first game I played by accident, thinking it was a regular turbo SNG. Luckily I did (barely) cash in it.
