Frustrated With Low Limits Im finding it really hard to build my bankroll at low limits. Every once in a while I make a final table and win $50 or $60 but for the most part i end up winning only a couple of dollars (or nothing at all on some days). It can be hard to swallow to sit and play in a tournement for three or four hours, out last 800+ people and walk a away with like 4 bucks. I am going deeper more often but the variance in these things is sickening. One hand goes wrong and poof, there goes the tourney...oh well i guess the experience is important too...but it would be nice to get some experience along with a nice payout...

I would play mostly smaller (27, 45, 180 sngs are all offered on pokerstars) MTTs or even possibly the STTs if you want to build bankroll if you like tournaments, or you can play cash games. I think cash games are the easiest way to consistently make money at low limits. If you're looking for that big payday though, MTTs are definitely the way to go.

If you like to play low stakes MTTs, and you play at Pokerstars, you have to get way deep ITM to get anywhere, due to the heavily top weighted payouts. Try the 180 sear SNGs. The $4 variety has proven a consistent money maker for me over the last couple months.

I am having the same problem with the lower limits. I really feel that this level attracts way to many people who don't take the game seriously. But because of my lousy record at this level I fear buying in to higher limits. I really find that if I play tight in the beginning and let the newbies knock themselves out and then swith to a more aggresive style, I place more often then not in the money. The problem is placing high enough to actually make any substantial amount of money!

re: Frustrated With Low Limits poker thanks for the feedback guys. i should have mentioned that i only play at full tilt (cause im one of those oddball mac users). that said i think the comments about the top heavy pay scale applies to full tilt as well. i understand why its like that (because i know how hard the people who finish on top work) but it can still be frustrating. maybe ill start playing more ring games on line. most of my live experience is with cash games so it might be worth a try.

I started on-line poker playing $.25/.50 fixed limit and won a couple of hundred dollars. I then moved to MTT. Now, I can't win at fixed limit. My favorite games are money added and guaranteed prize pools. I won't play in a freeroll if there are too many players. The "buy-in" value must be a least $.50. I sometimes see a freeroll where there are over 100 players and the prize pool is $25.00. This is just crazy. I won't play in it. Today's Bodog game has 213 players all trying to win a share of $75.00. I normally would not play in a game like this one but I'm playing today and my cards are rotten.
