Focus: The difference it can make

Over the past 2 years i have been a fun player. Eg If feel I want a game and i go-online, cash some money - play a bit. Sometimes I wina nd take the misses for a slap up meal. sometimes i lose. Its never bothered me if I lose as I only played with what I could afford too. That said, If I won I would spend it.

Basically I had no idea if I was up overall or not. At the beginning I won occasionally towards the end of lastyear I was winning more often - but of course still lost some days.

Hence new years plan was to have focus. I had 2 years experience so now must be the time see what type of player I am. Here was the plan

1) Decided to invest some of my work bonus, $2000 in a bankroll. Put this in a seperate account and only use this for poker.
2) Play no more than 7 hrs a wk to keep fresh.
3) Bought Poker office to analyse play. Use software to ensure only playing tables where at least 2 weak players. ( you can get a very rough idea after 20-30 hands even if no history )
4) implemented a system where I cannot lose more then 2 buy-ins in a day (using maximum deposit limits). This is to avoid tilt blowing my bankroll.

The point is I have more than Quadrupled my bankroll in three Months now that I have focus. All within acceptable bankroll mgt guidelines (eg 5% stake)

My point is if you, like me play for fun ( eg not source of income) , you will find even more enjoyment if you have experience at the tables & have a game plan.

Even the other half does not mind me playing for short periods most days as she has seen the graphs and that there is a plan. ( + I am now only playing with winnings as I have cashed my orinial input )
