Focus So what do people do to focus while playing online? I find it difficult to get rid of distractions when playing the smaller limits because I think it isn't a big deal. I recently decided that while playing I'm always more profitable when I just put my headphones on and listen to some music. Not rocket science I know but I was just wondering what other people think

Pretty much dependent on whether the player is playing for recreation or social reasons or to improve their game/bankroll. Some folks stay at the smaller limits because their lifestyle does not allow them to be free of distractions, ie. 2 or 3 rugrats runnin around the house, it doesn't matter what the pot is or how close to the money you are.

for perfect focus i prefer -no music/very quiet music -only the softwarewindow open -trying to think of every aspect of the game in shortest possible time like opponent behaviour, own tableimage and styleadjustments in addition of possition, structure and stacksizes... if I do that actively at the beginning of a session it becomes absolutely natural and without actively trying to find out I kind of know what my opponents are most likely thinking.. maybe that sounds a bit weird and it's hard to describe, but I hope you can follow and use it a bit

I made a poker prep-list that I set up for the explicit purpose of helping me stay focused. Simple things like being sure that I've eaten and that the dogs are settled and not whimpering to be let inside or out. Having the ringer on the phone turned off. I keep the list open to me during the game and it has very simple notes like FOCUS! which is helpful when my mind drifts off to worrying about the dentist appointment tomorrow. One page of notes beside the laptop is essential for me to keep my head in the game.
