first hand of the day, lol

Ok, I'm officially in love with the 25/50c tables on empirepoker :-D There's no other reason for this post, I'm just on a bit of a high & wanted to share this tale with you all.

I moved up to the 25/50c tables a couple of weeks ago. I knew at the time I was taking a gamble as I'd only started turning a profit on the 10/25c tables two weeks before. However I was getting bored with how long it was taking to build my bankroll, and wanted to play a session or two against some tougher opposition

Well, the 25/50c tables are awesome. I've been paid off for so many monster hands it's unreal. Twice I've had folks go all-in against me when I had the nuts, and I've built my $60 bankroll to $210 in about a week and a half.

I'm sure there are still some problems with my game, but when I'm playing against opponents like this I'll take the money for now and work on my game later on

for some reason I'm finding the folks on the 25/50c tables are a lot looser than on the 10/25c ones. The aggressive folks in particular are paying off my monster hands in a big way.

To be fair I couldn't fault this guy for calling when I saw his hand... two pair with a flush draw puts him around 52% to win against my trips. Against any smaller hand he was a solid favourite, and given my betting I wasn't likely to be on a flush draw.

Three big blinds posted in this hand? That's madness!

Wtg Mixiplx, sounds like you are having a good run. Just beware that it would appear that u r not suffering too many beats at the moment which is great but it can all change, and if u have jumped up too early u could find your bankroll decimated very quickly when u have a couple of horrible sessions, which will happen, if it does I recommend going back down and building back up again. I know this is an arduous task but trust me I know from bitter experience, jumping up quickly because you have a run and are beating the level can be the quickest way to decimate your roll. But enjoy the run and long may it continue.

Yeah, if my bankroll drops below $100 I'm gonna drop back down a limit & take my time.

Having said that, the way folks are playing against me right now I don't see that happening. I made $80 last weekend, and I've made $95 so far today. People just want to give me money:

There certainly seem to be some quite fishy plays by your opponents. You might find that a more aggressive style works better because you'll be able to get people to fold with marginal hands if you're betting your big hands in the same way. It's a beginners' mistake to not bet into their big hands... so often I see people getting really poor value because they're scared their opponents will fold if they bet bigger. And often they get their big hand cracked because they're giving away cards too cheaply. Still, if people are going to throw all their chips in anyway, I suppose there's something to be said for letting them do it, so long as you have a good read on them.
