| Finally got it figured out for me I had posted before about doing good in cash games and struggling in tournaments. Unfortunately I am addicted to tournaments and only cash in about 1 or 2 out of 5. I do however come out ahead 80% of the time in cash games, so I fund my tournaments with that. I tilted bad here a while back a lost my bankroll, and just recently deposited $200. I have found that I do much much better at the $25 buy in cash games than the micro games. I like the donks, but 2 or 3 at a table, not 7 or 8, to many suck outs. I know it's not proper bankroll management, but when I win as much as I do in them, I can't not play at that level. Now moving up to $50 buy in's is a whole nother story, not going there yet. I am all though keeping my tournament buy in's under $4, mainly because I suck at them in my opinion. I tried some higher dollar ones and blew some of my new bankroll and it didn't work. But did get it back, plus some with the cash games. I wish I loved cash games half as much as I like tournaments, I could probably do very good on the net. But I get more of a thrill winning 5 bucks in a tournament than I do 50 in a cash game. Yeah people are going to say that I'm an idiot and why would I not just play cash games. But I just can't help it, it's like a drug, I even still play freeroll tourneys, just because it's a tournament. But if I ever get my tournament game as good as my cash game, look out guy's, I'm making some moola! Peace all |

| I know I was doing that yesterday on Cake, i would sign up for a tourney then go to the ring games to win my tourney entry back. It was working out well but when you take that big hit on the ring games, then you are sunk. In the end i noticed if i would have just saved the money and didnt by into tournies i would of had a bigger bankroll. |

| re: Finally got it figured out for me poker run 2 bankrolls. treat them as different games. that's what i do with different sports. and don't dip one bankroll into the other. if you're just using one to have fun, make sure its disposable money you were willing to give up that monthly trip to the steakhouse with or whatever. even when whatever poker client is telling you what your balance is, keep charted what amount is allotted to "play time" and what is allotted to what is "work time"...that way you won't, or shouldn't ever feel the need to "make up" for losses, and readjust your mind to thinking you were just paying to play in that game cause its fun. |

I agree. You are running good right now in ring, which is a good thing!!! Your BR isn't big enough to handle the swings in 25nl, if you continue to do this Patty is right, you will go busto!!! Trust me, I've done it more than once. And it sucks. Had I practiced proper BRM, which I am now, My BR would be in a lot better shape. Search CC for threads on BRM and follow what they say. Trust me, when you are running good, you're like, jeez if I followed BRM rules I wouldn't have any money right now. These guys are idiots, I've tripled my deposit so far!!! Yeah, right... Wait till you hit a down swing I would suggest now that you have made some money, to drop down limits and practice proper BRM. Don't be like me and learn this lesson the hard way, trust me. When you are running good it's easy to fool yourself into believing you have it all figured out. You are just on a poker high right now. I don't want to burst your bubble, I'm glad you are running good. Just don't get cocky and practice proper BRM before it bites you in the ass. |

If you don't like cash, don't play cash. I suggest playing one table SnG's to get your feet wet and build your roll if you like tournaments. However, if you don't learn cash games you are hurting yourself. This is the bread and butter to make consistant money on a regular base. The tourney's are for running deep and making a big score!!! There are players that make money only playing tourneys. Just be use to long dryspells and your BR growing rather slowley if you don't get a big score right away. |
