This is a discussion on Favorite hands within the online poker forums, in the General Poker section; what is it with people and their "favorite hand" or is that just an excuse for those who call 5x raises with a 78 os?...

It usually comes from winning a nice pot with an odd hand or something and the player will over value it. It's fine to have a favorite hand but no reason to go Ape Spit with K 8 offsuit in early position, unless your looking to loose money or get lucky.

I don't have a favorite hand, but I have a hand that my friends named after me. They call the 2-3 offsuit the Register (which happens to be my last name). The joke is that the 2-3os is like Mike Register, rarely ever wins but when it does everyone hears about it.

I think many people who see their (so called favorite hand) live and die with it. They see it--they play it...period. There are as we all know(or should all know)many times we should use our heads...not our favorite hands. I've seen people miss the bubble, or get knocked out of a tourney--because they played their(favorite hand )against a tight player--who shoved all-in). Just remember think before you call--or it might cost you. P>S: Love 8 10s---Hate J 9--unless its in my flop.

| My favorite hand is kind of a tie between... Favorites ... AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AKs next fav's ... TT, AQs, AJs, KQs, AK Actually, I have eight different "levels" of favorite, I like to call them "groups" Do you see where this is going? Drawing hands like T8s or 78s are lower % hands that have potential for large payoffs when they hit, but by assigning "favorite hand" status to them, you are likely to call larger bets than you should and letting desire cloud reason. Also, Doyle has said many times that he does not consider T2 to be his lucky hand, but rather a hand that he happened to get lucky with two times, in two different ways. | My favorite hand...the winner! I don't have a favorite hand. Heck, even Doyle says that he's lost more money on 10 2 than he ever won with it. And, in case you haven't watched High Stakes Poker, now he usually symbolically spits on his hole cards as he folds 10 2! |

I think people have favorite hands to help make the game a little bit more interesting for them. I have a buddy who absolutely loves to play 27o hard. The one time I actually seen him win with them he was ecstatic. I wouldn't say I have a favorite hand but I definitely have a least favorite hand... AJ ...I can never win with them. And, when I do hit, I end up busting out to a better hand.

My favorite stupid hand is queen 9. Idk why but when I started playing, I called big raises with it, overvaluing it as a hand. But I won my first ever tournament on this hand and tripled up through it on the same tournamennt. Ever since then its been my favorite.

re: Favorite hands poker JTs. Any suit it doesn't matter. When I look down at that hand I get excited lol. If it's a tight table then you know I'm raising. But otherwise I'm just trying to see a flop. There's just so many possibilities than can hit with that hand.
