The end of online poker???
In the next few months, elected officials will take a look at yet another bill that, if passed and implemented, will make it more difficult for fans of online poker and casinos to deposit money and play at their favorite sites.
If passed, the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act won’t make it illegal for players to play online, but will give law enforcers the ability to go after financial institutions that do business with off-shore gaming houses and poker rooms. The bill, which was introduced by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) earlier this year, aims to prohibit financial institutions from working with online gambling companies based outside the United States. This bill is just another attempt by a handful of politicians who are determined to make it as hard as possible for Americans to play poker and casino games for real money online. |

I honestly don't think this bill will get passed, especially in the near future (*touches wood*). I believe this same guy has been trying for a long time to get it passed and it's been thrown out a bunch of times. The fact is the government wouldn't bother banning something like this (more possibility of them starting up a regulatory body) - and even if they did - it would by no means be the end of online poker, more like a go ahead for a ton of new financial merchants to deal with online poker payments.
