Emotions affecting play

Hey guys thought I would chuck this out there- just broke things off with the chick I was seeing and yeah I feel pretty crappy but it's completely ballsed up my game - I just don t care and have donked off about 10% of my bankroll.

Will take a break for a few days till I snap out of it but wondered if anyone else has had anything similar happen

Shame you lost 10% of your bankroll whilst being in emotional termoil.

It's good that you have realised your game has been affected.

I had a similar situation a few years back due to a family berievement and packed up playing for a month, after first loosing 20% of my BR.

GL at the tables when you return.

^^^This exactly. It could have been much worse. I've lost my entire br more than once from tilt, either being mad and trying to recover or playing during time frames I couldn't sleep and wasn't thinking clearly.

LMAO - yeah in terms of actual cash cost, the chick was a hell of a lot more expensive than the BR dent

re: Emotions affecting play poker

Weird. I was just thinking about posting something about his subject. I'm in a in-between mood, not really in the frame of mind of playing. I played an SnG during my lunch break but was totally not into it.

My daughter is a little sick and the dog gets ansy when she is not doing well. I guess that's the poker gods telling me to take a break and come back when things are better.

Try never to play when you obviously 'on tilt'. Our emotions can take a huge toll on our BR if we let it...whether good or bad moods! Take a break...reassess your situation before you blow all of your BR! GL!

Yeah, been in situations like that where your mind just isn't in it, and have blown some of the money. Like people have said, it's usually better to get out of the poker room and go do something else to clear your head. Take a few days (weeks?) off and get some relaxation, then come back to clean up and get happy again.

The problem is Online Poker man, since your by yourself you are going to be constantly thinking about the issue. Instead try playing home games with buddies until your over this chick. It's the socializing factor man. As far as things with this chick, forget about her. I learned that there are way too many smart, beatiful, and sexy women out there to waste time crying over one.

Winning makes me tilt....

Win a few bucks and I think I'm invincible. Then I proceed to lose everything I won. Women, beer, football or work don't make me go crazy but winning some cash sure does! Dang it all to heck.

this happen to me also when i got divorced after 13 years of marriage. I had built a nice bankroll of almost 400 dollars from initial deposit of 25 dollars. (also withdrew about 400 dollars). within a month i had gone broke. I could not concentrate did not care about bankroll management and hit a downswing which only made me play worse.

I didnt play poker for about 4-5 months after that.

since then i made another deposit of 25 dollars and my bankroll stands steady at about 250 dollars but this includes about 700 dollars worth of withdraws.

you shouldnt play poker at all unless you re in a good mood and have done what you have to do first like work etc...

otherwise you ll feel kinda empty as soon as you stop playing.. or it goes bad..
