"Edges" in LHE, NLHE, and PLO

Which game do you think allows the biggest "edge" to a skilled player over an unskilled one?

PLO just takes a little longer.

I don't play PLO but I was under the impression that its often 60/40 scenarios postflop and its often higher in hold'em...

That's when you're up against skilled players... Donks will stack off with non-nut hands and set over set type of situations were you have them drawing close to dead.

On the flop maybe... but there's two more streets that are kinda where the big bets go in.

I understand the mechanics and it still leaves me scratching my head even at the play money level. PLO.

NLHE. This is probably a question better suited for 2+2.

I would say PLO would have more edge for skilled players. Also i found that playing PLO really helped out my NLHE game with being able to read the boards a lot better.

Technically, NLHE allows for the largest edge of these three games. Equities run closer in PLO, and bet sizing in LHE prevents opponents from making catastrophic mistakes. Look at it this way: if a skilled player were trying to lose his money as fast as possible, which game would he pick? NLHE, because he could just constantly shove junk and get his whole stack in as a huge dog. In LHE, it's impossible to torch as many chips in a single hand, and in PLO, it's harder to be quite as big a dog.

If the question were: "In which game does the skilled player have the largest advantage in today's game conditions?" It's probably PLO, since there are so many attractive mistakes for the unskilled player to make.

i watched a guy yest in my 100plo game go from like $550 when i sat to like $1020 or so, we had 2 massive fish on our table and they were just bleeding chips all over us.

think i took around 2 BI myself but he was just destroying, the action in plo is just amazing... people shipping into me with straights on paired/flush boards when clearly im only betting with a house or flush




Uhhhhhmmm but to contradict how sick plo is and how much of a postflop edge you can have, I would say the biggest edge would be NLHE HU cash. Ever seen a bumhunters graph? Some of them just go in a straight 45 degree line.

Has to be NLHE all things being equal, but things are never equal in real life.

Think about it .. you have no limits on your bets in NLHE whereas you have limits in PLO. You can just wait for a big hand and overbet against a calling station and get payed off. Also poor players will probably fold to a bluff way more ofter in NLHE than PLO so you can bluff them more in NLHE whereas you need a have something in PLO to continue.

The overbet is the kicker though, that makes NLHE have the bigger edge.
