Drain Tournaments I had an idea that I think is pretty decent. The Drain tournament, which could be played with regular 10-15 min blind levels then antes/%1-%2 stack drain which goes into pot, or it could be played as a turbo tournament which would make it more intense. How it'd work is for every certain amount of time spent above a certain multiple of the average stack you'd be awarded a certain percentage of the prizepool. For example, if you had 4500 chips and the average was 1500 at the beginning, for every 10 mins spent like this you would win $0.33 if it was a $1.10 buy-in game. Then if you fall down, the additional amount you win decreases, and average stack wins nothing/time and someone with say 10X average stack, i.e. 15 000 chips when avg. is 1500 would possibly make $1 every 10 mins. This would continue until everyone is eliminated (person remaining gets the remainder of prize pool) or until the prizepool is drained. Now the numbers above and percentages certainly aren't perfect, but a great structure could be determined for a game such as this. I had a strange dream ^^ last night. That's where this idea comes from. It's an alright idea isn't it?

I would only do a tourny like this to try and change my game up. I am one tight mother all through a MTT. So this type of structure for my game would be terrible because most of the tournament I am shortstacked compared to the leaders. I am comfortable with this position. I have no problem waiting. But this structure, (while also being really confusing) would not be profitable from my game style. I guess it could force me out of my comfort zone and teach me the more aggro style during the middle levels. Maybe. BTW, trying to do this in a home game...not a chance, no way I'd play. It would be WAYYYY too slow. So I assumed you meant online.

re: Drain Tournaments poker haha snow. and yes I mean online, I think online is the only place this could be done properly, it'd be way too confusing without a computer figuring everything out. Also it wouldn't necessairly be against your playing style because if you play well you certainly often at some points in the tournament have more chips than everyone else. With this idea, you might do extremely well the majority of the game, and win a decent amount of the prizepool even if there came a time in the game when you got into a huge confrontation and lost the tournament far from the final table. I think this kinda game would sort of have the feel of the wsop before it was a freezeout game. (key word sort-of ). The thing that was crazy in my dream is it was like a turbo fast paced tournament and was winning like $100 for every few mins having over 100k chips or so (not even sure if I was on a pc felt more like a battle on some field), such a weird dream. But yea I'd definitely be interested in it being tested as a freeroll at least, in my mind it seems so cool lol! but I don't work for poker sites so unlikely it'll happen, just had to share my creative idea with some people who wouldnt think im crazy. (CC'ers).

re: Drain Tournaments poker In motor racing they get paid for leading for a lap of the race etc so I see no reason why it couldn't be done in online tourney. I prefer the current payout structures though except pokerstars tourneys could be a bit steeper.
