| Downswings.... Mixing it up? Hey all, I am wondering if you guys ever mix up your games when your on a downswing? In the last two weeks, I have been losing a constant 6BB / 100 on 6max 5NL for about 12K hands. I am down about 83$ from a 130$ bankroll. Thankfuly I have bonuses and rakebacks. I don't feel I am always playing my A game, but there are moments when I am and I catch the worst end of the variance, I have had some break even sessions, but not alot. Since I moved from Pokerstars to full tilt I decided I would learn 6MAX and jump a blind level. Of course this isn't necesserely suggested, but if you ever want to learn, you gota throw yourself in the jungle. So my bankrolls at like 73$ and I am half tilting, I decide I would take a break from Cash games and I switch up to sit and goes. I play great and cash out 57$ in a 11$ investment. Great feeling really, I will go back to cash game tomorow probably if I have the time, it might give me a kick. I also have been reading this: http://www.groene-appel.nl/moving_th...10_verneer.pdf Good stuff. So basicaly, how many people here mix up their play to prevent tilting in downswings? If you mix up your play how do you do it: 1. change blind levels? 2. change table structure (6max/FR/HU)? 3. change game type (NL/OMAHA/2-7 etc...) 4. Or finaly like me, go from cash to SNG/Tournament SNG are really doing good for me, I won a 25 buyin live SNG, broke the quarter million pstar bubble, and won @ fulltilt in 3 of 4 SNG's. |

| sup. yeah mixing levels up is good, especially when u feel like u ain't playing your A game, or when you are getting bad beat. i would not suggest switching from 6 max to full or other way around. also playing something like stud or omaha for a little wont hurt. |

| I sometimes switch between sites, but will always move down a level when on a really bad run. A lot easier to deal with a horrible run when its only costing you half as much. Im a SnG player so when switching sites it pretty much changes everything up, different blinds, different stakes, different games. Once I feel I am back to playing well I will go back to my normal games. * Wouldn't you normally move down before losing almost half your bankroll? | re: Downswings.... Mixing it up? poker I love switching game type when I'm losing. Whether it is bad luck, bad play on your part, or just better play from your opponents, "use any excuse to get away from the table when you are losing."(Ivey I think, correct me if I'm wrong) Also why would you want to play a tough nl hold em table when there is a soft omaha h/l or stud or 2-7 triple draw table available at the same stakes? |

| I tend to just switch site when I'm off my game. Works just the same as I have different games on the different sites. Stars is mainly 5c/10c Omaha hi/lo and PLO, Tilt is where I hit the low stakes Rush tables and 90 man KO SnG's, and I've recently started back at Ladbrokes (with the casino feature turned OFF!) playing .10/.20 cash and the £2.50 and £5 5 seat SnG's. Seems to be working well. Down a little this month, but not much, and hit silver star on Stars and silver rewards on Laddies. |
