doubled my BR in a week playing micros

i busted out awhile back and decided that i wasn't going to put anymore money on until i felt i was ready to play again. i took about a month off to regain my composure, read about BR management, and think about what had happened to my original BR.

last wendsday, i put 25 dollars back onto pokerstars. this is what i can afford. i told myself, no cash games, and only micro SnG's until my BR allows my to move up. i am at 50.13 as of right now. i know it's not a lot but it's a start.

the main thing is i am sticking to BR strategy. i am only playing 1.20 SnG's, and have not played any cash games. i am going to continue to play micro's until my BR says i can play 5 dollar SnG's. it's going to take awhile to accomplish this. but i honestly feel that i have the discipline to get it done this time.

i have also found that it is possible to find good competion in the low buy ins. i played a game last night and found myself sitting right next to Bubbabestbabe and it came heads up between her and i. which also taught me another lesson. Never underestimate your opponents.

wish me luck.

Thats a very good job and good luck on continuing to build your BR.

I did something similar when I turned $10 into $100 in about 2 weeks by playing micro-limit SnGs.

congrads to you and your firm discipline!well done!...... I am building on my small cash amount as well.I play low sng's and small tourney fee sometimes.I have tripled my cash,my tokies are needing replenishing big time! I haven't played them in a bit,I use these type of games to help me hone in-which i most definately in need of.I am seeing I am lasting longer now that i don't go all in pre flop with high pairs. have a great day!

OHHH! Let's look at what doubling you money in a week does in a year! $25*2^52 is $112,589,990,000,000,000. Now THAT is a plan! Keep up the good work. I just love doing that to my bankroll when I have a good run. Luckily, halving it every week still only reaches near zero and not -$112,589,990,000,000,000.

Wow! Chief, do you mind transferring next year $1 billion to my PS account? Ooh, and another billion to FT would be appreciated.

Good job!

The $1 SnG on Pokerstars will give you a good chance as the play is often pretty weak. I don't like the 20% rake though. Then you have to go all the way to $5 to get to the next level. Why no $2 or $3, Pokerstars?

i feel the same way. there are the 3 dollar turbo's but i don't like turbos. i'm a TAG player and don't make a lot of moves early on. i get bored of the 1 games and move up to the 5 dollars games from time to time.

Thats very good, congratulations.
So how many S&Gs do you play per week?
Do you play single table or multi table?
Can you give us an idea of how make out?
How frequently do you make it to the money?
How often you win 1st, 2nd, etc...

well i generally play about 10 a week. 1 a day, or 2 if i have the time. i don't usually get on the computer until late at night. so 1 game is usually all i can play.

for the most part i single table. on the rare occasion i will play the 2 table 1 dollar tourneys.

well late lately i've been on a bit of an upswing. i don't expect it to last to much longer. however it seems that in these low buy in games, patience is a virtue. i've played very tight in all of them and have faired well.

unfortunatley if don't have a program that keeps my statistics for me. pokertracker and the such is a bit of a frivolous purchase for me at the moment so i am forced to keep track of my play on sharkscope. although sharkscope can be decieving to a person looking up another player to find information, i know exactly what it says about me.

it seems lately that i have been making the money quite frequently. i could only give you a rough estimate of how often but since i deposited on pokerstars a couple of weeks ago it's been over 50% of the games i've played.

i have started a log of my finishes but at this point it is so small that it would be pointless to publish it. when i have a greater amount of games played then i will think about it.

Keep it up, man, and make sure you don't start getting cheeky and ignoring BR management. That got me into a lot of trouble when I was building my BR.

Seriously consider these turbos, they are a goldmine since the play is so very soft it's almost criminal. They were tougher during the summer, but now, it's all about calling an open push on the first hand with ATo, so the field thins out pretty fast (and you can build a big chipstack).

Also, try to play as much of them as possible when your decision making becomes better, especially turbos: this will boost your hourly rate and make your br grow faster. Another bonus is that since they don't last as long as normal SNGs and thus, you're "reduced" (wich is not really a bad thing if you play good preflop) to all-in fold mode wich doesn't take much concentration or attention. I was only able to manage one in the past, but I now 4 table with ease and I'm the kind of guy who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Peace
