| The doom switch This happened to a friend of mine and you have to wonder,is it rigged? This is a long post but a very good read.Read it and I promise you it will not be a waste of your time: This is no BS, indisputable proof that the so called alleged "doom switch" really exists. I always thought I was just a bad player, once in a while getting lucky; but I really thought practice was the key. Boy was I wrong, I never thought I'd admit it, but I was down a few thousand from playing on pokerstars, and was down to my last $100 when desperation set in. Man was I desperate. I started eating dogfood in between SNG's, just because it's so damn cheap, and besides, Rocky was getting fat anyway. So as a last resort, I decided to write pokerstars a mildly threatening letter- Dear Pokerstars, Hi, I'm a fairly consistent losing player on your site. For some reason, whenever I go all in preflop, I lose usually 2/3 of the time. I used to to think it was just my play, but the more I watch the pro's on TV, their Ace is always good. So I started narrowing down my all-in preflop hands to only suited cards with an ace kicker, because that's what the pro's are doing. Still no luck, it seemed I was losing even more playing this way. I stopped paying my internet access bill because I was down about $4400 in 3 weeks, just from playing at your site. I don't know why, but something about that just struck me as odd, because people that gamble in real casinos do usually win about at least 1/2 the time. So I did some reading up on online poker on the internet (I was forced to steal my neighbors wireless connection to get online because I had no money left). I heard about something called variation, but that couldn't be the case because I variate my play, and the 2 cards I usually push in on varies by the hand. So I kept reading, until I heard about something called the "doom switch", also known as the "cash out curse". Seemed like the only logical way I could be losing so much was if you had me on a high difficulty level. The only issue is is that I never yet cashed-out, so why would you put the curse on me? I've been patient until now, but I've finally reached my wit's end. If you don't change my difficulty level to something easier, and I mean RIGHT AWAY, I'll have no choice but to either: a)stop playing online poker altogether, or, b)join a more reputable site such as jetset poker Just because I'm in the US doesn't mean you can take advantage of me. Sincerely & angrily yours, raisebot Andrew xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (702) xxx-xxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com Within 2 hours, I got the following reply: **** Dear raisebot, We here at PokerStars sincerely regret your unfortunate experience playing at our cardroom. I personally checked with our tech dept, and mistakenly your account was set on T16 level, which is normally reserved for people that have already made a withdrawal. Initial deposit level is T01, where bad beats happen less 9/10's less often. We can see that you are a good and dedicated player, therefore, to keep you playing at PokerStars, I personally set your level at T00, where I can promise you a bad beat will not happen again within the next 2 (two) weeks from today. After that time, I have no choice but to raise your difficulty level from T00 to T05, which is basically a "break-even" level. I assure you that even though you are in the USA and have a douchebag for pathetic excuse of a president, that does not influence our decisions in determining a player's current difficulty level. I hope this is a satisfactory resolution for you; and hope that you will continue to show your support for PokerStars. If you have any further inquiries or questions, do not hesitate to contact me personally. I have also credited your account with an additional 150 FPP's, which can be used to purchase merchandise and enter freerolls through our VIP store. Yours truly, Susan xxxxxxxxx PokerStars Support *********** Sounding too good to be true, I entered a SNG, with the sole intention of going all in to see if she was being truthful or not. The following result speaks for itself- |

i pretty much said i would not be playing because of bad beats lkol which i wa s lying but yeah Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker Support. I am sorry that poker has not been going as well as you would like. Unfortunately, it is human nature to focus on the negative, and not on the positive events. Further aggravating this phenomenon is the fact that while a player will remember almost every instance that his or her hand gets outdrawn, the player is much less likely to notice when his or her hand holds up or when the player is the one that outdrew the opponent. This is largely because a player is much less likely to know when they got lucky because in those instances, very often the loser of the hand will quietly muck his/her cards, and in some cases such as an opponent?s draw missing, the winning player will never know this fact. There are many reasons that a player may feel that they are unluckier than others, but please be assured that the shuffle is random, and cards are distributed fairly. It is just that perceptions play such a large role in how one reacts to certain events. I realize that this may not necessarily make you feel better, but rest assured that everybody experiences outdraws as they are such an integral part of poker. Even the pros experience beats, but part of what separates a very good player from a lesser player is largely to do with how they handle the situation after such a beat or series of beats, and to not let that affect their game. We wish you the best of luck and hope that the cards will turn around for the better! Regards, Aaron M Poker Specialist Full Tilt Poker Support |

| as entertaining as hte post was, it is obviously a joke. 3 key points 1. The emailer called george bush a douchebag, i dont quite believe they would do that 2. I dont think they would divulge this information, since why would they tell a random member this kind of stuff, when it can be information that can get them sewed for cheating players out of money, and can be a reason why they can be neglected as a poker site 3. You just openly admitted to stealing internet which is a criminal offence where i live |

| also the attachment could not be more made up. The pokerstars agreement was that you would not suffer a bad beat, this does not mean you would win every hand. In your attachment, why would the kings and aces flat call the min raise? a bit fishy. Also if you were to randomly go all in first hand, what are the chances in these hand coming up, well thats one for a,g to answer. You could have made it more believable by having pok tens vs king ten, king q and q,ten and the tens holding up. And in response to my first post, i think they would have rathered you quit than to have to reveal this information |

I think we have that problem here too. Sounds like a letter Vanquish would write: "STOP DOOMSWITCHING ME PLZ. I WANT T-00."... followed by a fistpump. ![]() |
