I've introduced online poker to my friend who mostly plays live cash games and he was very impressed about online that you can auto top up. He wishes we can all do that in live games. Unfortunately in California casinos, you can only rebuy when you're felted down to 10bb or so. Does anyone wish they can auto top up in live games also? I wish there's a machine where you put in about 3-5 buy-ins and it'll auto top up for you. I think those electronic poker tables at Carnival Cruise are capable of doing that.

That's a funny rule. At the Mardi Gras casino in West Virginia there is only one rule: you can't add chips if your currently involved in a hand. Don't understand a rule like California's, your only adding more chips to the table, but then, i'm not the brightest bulb in the box either.

haha those tables on the carnival cruise are oddly interesting, loved playing when i was on a cruise a while back. Between poker and blackjack I managed to cover everything we had racked up through buying pictures and casino and such, it was awsome to pay that in cash and not have it go on the cc when we were leaving on the last day of the cruise.

Yeah seem to be some odd rules in california lol, iv only ever come accross like sandyhooker said regarding not being able to add while hand is in progress. Then again i don't play at many casinos tbf.

That California rule is horrible. I have never heard or seen that rule in a casino before. Never have been to a California casino, but have played at many of them on the East Coast, Midwest, and Vegas. Is that for any game stake or just smaller stakes? Do you know the reasoning behind it?

Any non-Indian casinos, majority of stakes that are $1/$2 or $3/$5 blinds, you can only buy in for 20-66bb. They do this to cut the edge and create action. They want to make it a gambling game much like blackjack, slot machine, etc. Because as you know, small the buy-in limit, less edge skilled players have against others, and casinos think that they're evening out the game. I think it's ridiculous and bs.

Florida also has this issue too I believe. I think that's why Vanessa Rousso was trying to work on petition to get rid of limit and allow deepstack since that's where skill level is at.

Non-Indian California casinos such as Hollywood Park, Commerce, Larry Flynt's Hustlers, Players Club, Normandie, Hawaiian Gardens, all have crap limit buy-ins, where $1/$2 is $40 buy-in max. Of them, Hollywood Park is the best, which still sucks. The buy-in is $40-$100, so you can buy in for $100. I buy-in for $100 but one thing that really pisses me off is, I can't top up or rebuy until I'm down to $20 or less.

Ever since I started playing home games where they offer 50NL, 100NL games, I stopped going to casino(until thanksgiving day). Home games have no rake, games are softer, and it's very social game while there's no b.s. limit. They let u buy in for 80bb but I can't complain bcz it's still way better than what casinos offer.

That seems odd I don't see why the casino would benifit from you not being able to potentially add more to their rake at anytime. Glad we don't have that rule here

Oh, it doesn't affect their rake. They take away $1 pre-flop no matter what, and the moment a hand reaches the flop, $5 gets taken off from the flop and that's it. Their logic is, shorter players are, they will even out the skills among more players so everyone has slightly fair chance of winning. They want to create action and also, they want donks to have better chance of winning. I hate it. Lot of these non-Indian California Casinos, have buy-in limit of 20bb. Only Hollywood Park and Larry Flynt's Hustler Casino have buy-ins from 20-66bb in LA County. They only let you short-buy when you're down to 10bb. It's bs. I hate it.

Wow, that's terrible, can't believe they allow only such low buy ins! A venue's players should petition management of any given venue.

At the Sydney casino where I play live 1-2, you can buy in from $80 to $200 (40BB to 100BB), and can manually top up with the chips in your pocket when you fall below 100BB.

But if you think that's good, they take 10% rake each pot up to $10, and there is an hourly $5 time charge just to sit and play. Every single freaking hour.

Around these parts you can top up as long as your not involved in a hand, but must not add more than the table max buyin. That rule is retarded :?

Yeah, that's a weird rule. Where I play you can just add chips to your stack (up to the max buyin) any time you're not in a hand. It's kinda impractical to round up every single chip you lose in a live game though, so I normally do it with $25s.

Yeah, charging rake and time is nasty. Crown in Melbourne did the same thing for years too, though they keep changing the format every other month. Last time I was in there I think it was $5 flat to sit down, then they raked every pot at something like 10% capped at $12 or something.

Does The Star still make you go back to the cage to rebuy as well? Only played there the once (dropped two buyins in under a round LOL - JJ vs QQ on an eight-high flop and then set over set) but I had to go back to the cage between hands to get more chips. Max buyin was only $100 then too. And the way they have to deal poker out of a shoe just tilts me no end.

Yeah rake plus time charge really annoys, it's like you're being punished for not playing the casino games where the house enjoys its edge!

No, don't think The Star makes you rebuy at the cage anymore. Glad we're at least fine with the 100BB buy ins. 40BB max is just nuts. Does Crown have any deep stack buy in games, ie, buy in for up to 250BB in?
