Donkeys Putting You on TILT?

Hey Everyone,

I have been playing a lot of FREEROLLS, and I know this are breathing grounds for donkeys... but it just sickens me when a donkey gets lucky... and beats my made hand... that puts me on TILT big time...

So, Here are some TIPS...

1) get up, I mean physically stand up from your chair and walk around... so you can relax... get a drink of water or something... and come back fresh.

2) keep playing tight, and agressive... move all in only when you have the nuts, or AA so you can bring the pain to them.

3) Do not under any reason try and bluff a DONKEY, they are calling stations...

if you got any other tips... love to hear from you...

Stop playing freerolls. Better yet, stop playing tournaments. I'm tilting a lot less since i've switched entirely to ring games.

Join the Donkeys!

Take a break from all that strategy and play with abandon. Ever wonder if 7 2 off is really a bad hand against an all-in? Only one way to find out, just play it and anything else. If you donk up a few victories start bullying and donk some more. Even if you lose you'll feel better, because you expected to lose. GL!

Remember that in order to get far or deep in any tourney at some point youll probably be the donkey and youll probably get lucky and youll probably suck out. Just play your best and play with your best instinct and youll eventually get past the other "donkeys"

It seems the only way to win in a freeroll i to play like a donk or play uber conservative. It seems like every table I go to there is at least one person who goes all in every hand no matter what.

Definitely stay away from trying to bluff the "donkeys". When they rely purely on luck, they usually don't understand how bad they really play.

LOL, its funny to see a donkey win sooo many chips, only to lose them very slowly, or at once. Thats the thing I love about donkeys, you know that if you ever get a hand you have someone to give you some chips for it.

Hey I sat out for an hour in a freeroll and when I sat in there was about seven hundred left, all the donkey's were gone I made 2 buck's so that might be an Idea! You have to play tight to get by the all inner's.

I have found that the freerols i make it far or cash/win are the ones were i play really really tight, move slowly up the board and not get got by the donks....but some times its hard in a freeeroll to stay that patient thru almost 3000 people....but when i do.....

i just have to say the only thing you can do is get used to it to such a point that when it happens it is almost expected. But idk if that's such a good idea and also think that it may be impossible to do.

If you're playing in a freeroll you have to expect donkeys. Everyone is looking to double up quick, because there are usually so may players and you need a huge stack to survive.

I have mentioned this elsewhere, but here goes. I think that I am going to start playing like a donk (or maybe I already am), but I find that when I play "uber conservative", I make it deep into the tourney, but I don't have enough chips when the blinds get up past 1,000.

Completely agree. The last three freerolls that Ive made the money in I was knocked out with two different full houses and an 8 high in the Razz portion of a horse freeroll. (Keep up with it, It helps me strive to do better)

Don't shove much preflop with anything early cause like you said, the donkeys will play with anything.

Stay away from freeroles. Put some money on poker and stick to BR managment n one day u'll hit big in tourneys.

Try stay tight for the first hour or two untill the blinds put pressure on ppl then u can make vaule bets. Try make notes too, they help alot!

I've been playing freerolls in order to build a bankroll and have found the best way is to wait out the first couple of rounds, unless you have a hand worth playing, and let them beat themselves. After the first hour, it sometimes gets back to more of a normal game. The other option, especally ayt Ultimatebet when there are a couple of thousand players, is just to join the party poker and hope for the best. Again if you survive the first hour at least you have a lot of chips .

playing ONLY freerolls would be the equivalent of being stuck in poker purgatory IMO.

Very rarely see good play in free rolls. Good thing if you get a rush of good hands you will get paid off not like a normal higher stakes cash tourney where good players will reside.

Cardschat freerolls are the only ones really worth playing in. the others even if you cash its only cents you will be making. and a lot of people in the cardschat freerolls are not donks (but some deffinitly are including me).

in the free rolls you have to wait it out a bit only call the all in if you are postive you have the best hand dont try to buy any pots after you clear out half the players you should be able to play your game the way you want by than most of the donks have killed themselves already but keep in mind to make it in the free rolls you have to take chances also so good luck in your play

thats why i like the 10 cent tournys at pokerstars there are alot less of the all in donks and it dont take all day to just win change, when i get hit hard at ring tables i usually can build back up with a few 10 cent tournaments

i agree, i know donkey, dont EVER bluff them. Some how they will wind up with cards better than you. Like people before me said, they are calling staions, dont mess with them. You have to play tight and stick to your high pockets. Luck doesnt hurt either

I've been described as a "conservative player", so I almost never mess with the donkeys. It's a foolish way to play, and they should go hit up the slot machines; since, that is basically what they are doing.

I love having the rep as a conservative player. It's a good one to have. Your bluffs are almost guaranteed wins. And, if a donkey makes it to the final players, they know if I go all in or call a high bet- they're screwed and fold.

I like the 10 cent games to first few hands only play premium hands and hope to double or triple up off the donkeys. After first 20 minutes or so its mostly just play tight solid poker to win at least double your buy in. And yes never try to bluff a donkey.Always try to take the bad beats in stride and take a few very deep breaths and not get in any hands until you are on a even keel again.

I got to share this with someone. My wife doesn't get it. I was playing a Freeroll at Ultimate Bet and was BB first hand. I had pock 4s. 7 people went all in before me. It blew my mind. I know the smart play would have been to fold. Obviously some good hands out there. But I figured it is a freeroll and what a start if I hit. I called. The guy after me that started the all in showed a 7 10 off. The flop was 4 4 jack. I felt like a donk for calling but it sure was a nice pot.
