DONKEYS WE all hate them....but do we really??? How many times have you been bad beat by a donk who has no logical explaination for being in a certain hand?On the flip side how many of us have profited from these losers?A friend of mine expressed to me that if you are a good poker player you love to see these players comming.Thats where we differ...in my mind all the poker knowledge and knowhow of the game dissapears when you play against donks.Whats your opinion?

TBH, I believe most really good players avoid the suckouts by not going all in on the flop and play smallball poker, your hand is usually only full proof on the river and a lot of good players make tough laydowns knowing there can be a bad card on the turn or river. Im mostly talking of tournaments which is more about survival rather then flopping a set and going all in to make the biggest stack possible or trying to get someone off a draw, if anything bet til river and see what happens. Its what I try to do most times, but sometimes you do need to just need to ship on the flop and hope they dont catch.

I've shaken my head and felt sick in the guts many times when someone who I'm dominating in chips has called my all in of KK with a 10-9 and flopped a straight and crippled my stack. In saying that I always remember the bad beats and never remember the times when I've busted them.

I'd have to agree with your friend and the few others who said they like the donks. I mean sometimes they get lucky and suck out on you, but the majority of the time you should be taking their chips. You have to notice them tho. If you don't realize your playing the hand against some donk playing any Ace rag or King crap it may hurt. Just last night I had pocket queens my 5x BB raise was called by the BB (the donk of the table who couldn't fold when BB no matter what they had). Flop comes King and two low cards and they bet out, easy fold for me, she/he turns over K7os, just wanted to laugh. Ended up winning that SnG though. Donks are your friends, take them for everything they got. Just don't tilt when they get lucky.

opinion I agree with your friend. I love to see these guys coming. Most cash players love to see them because for every donk out you'll win ten times. So if you have all your money at one table then you could get killed by one of these guys but if you use correct bankroll management then you'll be able to handle one of these every now and then and you will make a profit.

re: DONKEYS poker A question first. By donks, do you mean the loose-agro a-hole that likes to push with any 2, then talks shit like he knew what he was doing? How about the new players that really don't know what they're doing but trying to learn. Then there are the "donks" that play scared. The trick is, IMO, to not get involved in hands that you can't figure out how your hand stacks up against the "donk". My answer is yes you want the donks, but also look at it like this, I may be a donk to you, but you are also a donk to someone else.

sometimes almost every tourny that I've won or gone deep in,, I've had a lucky break,,,, for instance have pocket queens guy goes all-in I call he has pocket kings,,,, I hit four card table flush or st8,,, now does that make me a donk for sucking out or does that just make me lucky ? just my thoughts

I love the donks. They make you play better. But I have to say that some days it's just annoying. When you have the best hand on the flop and they catch runner runner, I can't stand it. or when you have a high pocket pr and they catch 4 cards to a straight or a flush? Rediculous. Crap happened to me 4x's today.

donks are fun to play with and i think that they make the game interesting. Although on some rare occasions they get lucky and win a hand, typically you can build your chip stack off of them. Also, its fun seeing other people get beat when they get beat from a donkey
