Donk = short for donkey... another name for a donkey is an "ass".

I hope that clears things up for you.

I got so upset at players when for example: I got pocket A’s in under the gun position, so I raise 4 times the big blind a player in middle position re-raise me with and all in bet so I call. He turns up 7 4 off suite and on flop he gets two pair. How can some risk there tournament with 4 7 off suite?

Surely you're kidding! I can't think of anything better than having pocket AA against someone holding 74. I wish I could be so good. What game are you playing?

Poker is a game of making the correct decisions not automatically winning with AA because everyone with an inferior PP folds (because you have an unseen superiority) or you automatically win because you have a prime PP. If you wait on AA KK AK QQ and play it only you won't win - if you could everyone would do just that - ever wonder why they don't. It's a game because various scenarios, when played out, give different results.

If you play that hand 10000 times how many times do you think you'll win or lose? If you routinely are able to put your opponents at such a disadvantage you're better than any player in the history of any game. I guarantee that this is not the only "weakness" of your game "being-beaten- by-bad-players-with-worse-hands-than-yours"- come on.

I guess I don't get it...

p.s. I'm not likely to call an UTG player with a 4BB raise with 74 but I don't ALWAYS make the right play, I might make ANY play depending on the circumstances and I allow for the likelihood that I don't know so much that the opposition could be playing from a position of superior knowledge and experience - or a misread - lol,

lol. i have been called a donk so many times. maybe from some of the players here. most of the time i have the better hand and still get called the names. some times i have been watching them play and know how they play and get them when i believe they have something like AK,AQ or something like that and the flop brings them nothing and i will play the hand as if they got nothing on the flop and they just can't believe i could possibly have known that. but i must confess, i have risked (gambled) on many hands and got lucky. i have won many tourny's and there has always been some luck or slop involved. after someone does it to me i usually type in the chat box (slop rules) and it seems to rule a bunch of times. call me as many names as you wish, i don't care as long as i win the hand.

I dunno--maybe I'm just to old--maybe I'm just to polite--but I kinda quit calling people names when I was 6 years old!

I hate donks just as much as you do. I mean all i play in are freerolls because i have no bankroll at the moment. and im consantly stuck down here not even comming close to actually winning one. when I get to the point where i have a chance to win, i get sucked out on by some donk. it happens everytime. so for people like me, I have to say i wish donks would go kill themselves, im almost serius....

So, you would rather play equally skilled or better players than you all the time and practically make no money at all, unless in nut vs 2nd nut situations? Poker would be so boring. I understand getting frustrated by bad plays/players but that happens and thats where you make your money from.

The problem with fr's is the abundance of donks, say you have AA one has 74 and another 22 and they both go all in. I have been in these sandwich-suckouts plenty of times.

What annoys me is when some guy calls me a donkey because he thinks he is ahead when he really isn't. Not that I say anything. I just note that he can't calculate odds and can be easily trapped and hope I continue to run in to him at the tables. Still it annoys me.

I never complain how others play. I am no expert but have the same chances as anyone at drawing good cards or bad cards. There is a lot of luck in Poker also. I have seen players go all in in a rebuy game several times with poor hands (according to the book) and come up with the winning hand. After all they are probably not being challenged by too many players so have a very good chance at beating only one or two other players. I agree if you let them play awhile they will soon fade out. I also find women are not as notorious at faking their hands as men are. I pay attention to an obvious womans bet. Of course this is not always true. Let me say this. I am not a novice but not an experienced player so I am not always right. lol.

OH i hate donkeys and their play too,
I had one yesterday Holding KJ suited hearts i go all in (34500) but 100, so i push 34400, preflop, i had some donk call me im thinking UM ok but anyway flop hits Aspade, Qdiamond, 10heart.... yeah i flopped an ace high str8, so i go all in,,,, donk calls, im thinkin well split pot right..... nope we turn over i show my KJ suited hearts i have the flush draw as well but the str8, he shows his 2 4 spades,,, yep he has NOTHING and not even a hand to push with me preflop,,, Turn hits 10spade i dont care at this point, i still have my str8. River hits,,,,,,,,,,,,3 SPADE!!!!! yep he FLUSHED,,,, the whole table called this fool a donk, and how could he call with a 24 suited preflop at that much, he goes well who won,.,,,, and i said u shouldnt have, his reation to me was bye bye baby call mommy!!!!!
I was so mad, how can people .,.,.well donks be proud that they hit, with obviously the worst hand and be happy..,.......I just dont get some donks,,,,there fore the donk knocked me out of the tour, on the bubble of major money and he progressed,,,,,what a fool i was, but seriously...KJ suited much betta in going all in pre rather than 24?

I'd rather a donkey with the chip lead than a tight player....I find "donks" a very profitable income source on the felt.....And of course acting like one on said rare scenarios...... .Heeeeeeeee Haaaaaawwwwww

I love those who call you a donk when they have pair of aces, no flush or straight draw. You call because you have small pair with flush and straight draw and get lucky. As far as I'm concerned, I had the better hand with the small pair and straight and flush draw. Makes me angry to be called a donk in that situation.

...funny you should say this because it doesn't look like your play is much better.

...This is just a stupid, stupid play and makes absolutely no sense at all. Please explain your reasoning behind this pro-level play.

i had some donk call me im thinking UM ok but anyway flop hits Aspade, Qdiamond, 10heart.... yeah i flopped an ace high str8, so i go all in,,,, donk calls, im thinkin well split pot right..... nope we turn over i show my KJ suited hearts i have the flush draw as well but the str8, he shows his 2 4 spades,,, yep he has NOTHING and not even a hand to push with me preflop,,, Turn hits 10spade i dont care at this point, i still have my str8. ...I'm not siding with with the villain here because his play is (probably) as equally bad. However, he is getting about 691:1 odds to hit runner-runner, so calling your flop shove is probably profitable for him. Standard call, IMO.

I was so mad, how can people .,.,.well donks be proud that they hit, with obviously the worst hand and be happy..,.......I just dont get some donks,,,,there fore the donk knocked me out of the tour, on the bubble of major money and he progressed,,,,,what a fool i was, but seriously...KJ suited much betta in going all in pre rather than 24?
...KJs vs 24s is only 65/35 preflop, so you're not exactly dominating. You also leave out a lot of key factors like blind size, your opponents stack size, etc. From the looks of it, he made a bad call preflop but you could've easily made a bad play preflop as well. Granted, the villain did get mighty lucky to hit runner-runner, but I still hate your PF play. Post a HH and maybe I'll change my opinion.
Above.

But that's pretty vague. There are good ways to play, and bad ways to play with your small pair + straight and flush draw possibilities. *OT* I'm almost lucid again! This is great!*

Back to the point. For every starting hand there are numerous scenarios to be considered. I wouldn't call you a "donk" anyway, because it's not my style. However, if you called a decent pre-flop raise, without odds, and then chased after I priced you out of a hand, I might just mutter something along the lines of "Chasing little river rat" or "Vermin". I wouldn't type anything though.

Here's why I think you may be playing the hand in a way that irritates people: You get angry when they call you a "donk". When I outplay someone and they call me a "donk", "Luckbox POS", "crazy cunt", "salope", or "idiot", I wear the name calling with pride. I know I outplayed them and it pissed them off! I know they're still trying to wrap their brains around what happened, and it doesn't even occur to them that they got outplayed. That you even get angry implies that maybe, just maybe, you're not playing as well as you think.

But that's part of what's so infuriating and great about the game. No matter how much you learn and think you know, there's still that much more left to learn . Next time they call you a "donk", if you truly feel like you outplayed them, just say "A donk with your chips! Oh wait, they're my chips now." You can type it or just say it outloud. It's best to just say it outloud. Either way you'll feel better.

You have to take these people with a grain of salt and move on to the next hand....If you get knocked out then take a breather and say there is more poker another day...I have to agree with the lot in saying I love these People....They will double you up more often than busting you...

I like your style. I would never let the person who called me a donk know that it upset me if it did. That just gives the advantage over to them. As long as I don't say anything, they will have to wonder what I am going to do next time they try to buy the pot. lol

You do realize that without the idiots you'd only be up against people who knew what they were doing. Of course they will get lucky, just like the guy last week who called everything, then woke up with a straight flush against my A high flush.
