DOJ Oversight Meeting, May 3rd From the PPA: On Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee is holding an oversight hearing for the DoJ & AG Holder will be testifying. We need poker players to attend this hearing. This is the 1st public opportunity since Black Friday to make AG Holder aware of the poker community’s uprising at the actions of the DoJ on April 15th and the impact it is having on average Americans. Please RSVP to drew@theppa.org.

From Gamblers911: DoJ Oversight Hearing: Holder Doesn’t Know if Poker is Game of Skill The House Judiciary Committee held a Department of Justice oversight hearing Tuesday morning with a short question related to whether poker is a game of skill or chance. (Attorney General) Holder simply laughed off the question. “That is beyond my ability,” he said, noting he could not answer the question. Another member of the committee joked: “It’s a sport, according to ESPN.” The PPA had requested poker players to submit their questions following indictments of the three largest online poker rooms on April 15. Each was charged with bank fraud and money laundering in addition to having their respective domains seized. The poker community claims to have several friendly lawmakers on the Committee -- mostly on the Democratic side, according to the Poker Players Alliance.

Rep Sanchez D-Calif made a statement about poker. But didn't really ask a question. Basically said she supported legalizing online gamblilng and that she thought his resources could be better spent going after violent crimes. http://www.facebook.com/Congresswoma...anchez?sk=wall

Having said that, I have to agree, especially after watching that video of AG Holder. I mean, it's clear to me he doesn't give a rat's ass. |

I like this Cohen fella ! In the above youtube vid posted, at about 3:40, Holder says that "the degree of harm wasn't serious enough to go after...." Excuse my total ignorance, but for the big players such as PS and FT, where "the degree of harm" was big enough to warrant a federal prosecution, WHO WAS HARMED? The sites made money: no harm there. The banks made millions in transaction fees: no harm there. The people playing???? Exacly who was the victim? Who was the big loser here?

Yea - to be clear my comment was directed at members whose posts were deleted. Made the comment cause I was going to bed and wanted to make sure they knew why their posts were missing. Has nothing to do with Charade or this thread topic.

How long? How long does this commitee have before they reach a desision as to us USA players to get us back to the tables.. I mean it seems that they have some control in that direction. What does this do for us anyway? I am not sure if even they can help us at all.
