Doing BAAAD at poker, am I the only one? It has been a hard downswing for me, running bad and playing bad. I was having decent progress with my small bankroll until I have changed my way of playing without knowing it, became a calling/limping station and then did some pretty stupid stuff as well like playing 7 tables. Half the time I make a stupid decision, in the back of my head I know whats the right thing to do but for some reason I still do the wrong move mostly because of my guy and then I lose focus and go downhill from there. So I'm back to the very beginning, feeling bad and stupid. Might take some time off and stick to the take-2 challenge instead of winning what I lost back then losing it again cycle that I have which got me more and more frustrated.

This is natural. Everyone has problems, down swings, makes poor decisions, etc; The difference between those who go broke and those who persevere is recognizing the mistakes and adjusting accordingly. You've recognized your mistakes, that's huge in itself. Take a break, study, regroup and get back on that horse! GL!

re: Doing BAAAD at poker, am I the only one? You are not the only one, I've lost quite a bit, probably 10 times the amount you have in the last 3 months...now I'm on a mission, sounds like you are too... My biggest piece of advice would be to just walk away if you are not feeling it. Chasing losses will cripple your bankroll, as it did mine. Grind the micros, nothing fancy, any time you get a chance to play aggressively, for cheap, do it. Play aggressively and establish an image for the first few rounds...then buckle down and wait for your spot. It's been working for me, I've managed to grind 2.07 up to almost 19 dollars over the last 36 hours or so. Secondly, dont ever stop studying, and use the forums to your advantage...to vent, to ask questions, etc. Best of luck to you, hang in there I know how it feels, trust me on that one.

I'm in a slump at the moment as well. People have been hitting their 2, 4 and 6 outers on me consistently. I can't seem to win a hand when I have 15 outs. I guess bad runs are a part of poker and really hope it turns around soon. I'm trying to reduce my mistakes and hope for some better run of luck in the next few weeks. Stay focused and bring your A game each time. Good luck

If you are doing bad at online poker one tactic that i use and have been successful with is to play tight and smart try trapping people letting people dig themselves into a bigger hole. This way you risk less money and the outcome is better and more frequent. Okay this is how you do it play at tables with 9 players so you dont have to pay the blinds so frequently and just let the cards come to you and dont force the issue.

re: Doing BAAAD at poker, am I the only one? Nooooooooooooooo! You are not alone...lol. My luck seems to be my largest problem at the moment. If I get a flush they have I fullhouse. If I get a fullhouse then they have 4 of a kind. Not playing as much hoping it helps by taking a break.

well, if your running bad, run bad where it dont hurt as much, play in lower stakes. when im in a slump, i like going to down the lowest of stakes to see what it is im doing wrong. if i have days where i feel im invincable and im hitting cards and paying well, i go up in the stakes trying to capitalize on my good times. try to get the max out of your good days and reduce your bad ones to the minimum. this will definitly help your bankroll.

I'm running bad too. This past weekend was annoying and I'd like to forget some of these beats. I can't forget about my mistakes or else I'd never learn anything, so that is painful also. I never play above my bankroll, so when the shit hits the fan, I know I will have a roll left and therefore I like to make a small withdrawal. Making the withdrawal is like a psychological benefit knowing that the game hasn't busted me (at least not yet!). Then I take a break. I really need a break so badly that the thought of getting one point a day for Take Two is painful.

Yep I'm not playing as much as I did before.. just chilling, studying some strategies, browsing the forums, cooling off. I'm waiting to finish take-2 so I can have a fresh start, hopefully this run would help me not commit the same mistakes that I did from the past and take the next step ahead

re: Doing BAAAD at poker, am I the only one? Yep, we have all been there. I have been through downswings where I couldn`t hit a hand for hours and then, when I did finally pick up KK (for example), the guy next to me would have AA. The answer is solid BR management. That way, it is still annoying but it can`t really hurt you.
