Do You Use Sound?

Not sure which way this question is going to go but when you are playing at Full Tilt, Pokerstars, etc. is the sound on or is it muted. I play mostly on FT and I like to have the sound on. For some reason I just like to hear the imitated sound of chips, checking, etc.

One of my good friends absolutely hates the sound and mutes it every single time he plays. Says it annoys him like no other.

Some sites have better sounds that others, I think Pokerstars sounds are ewwww. Anyways do you play with or without sound? Y or y not?

I doesn't really affect the way I play or anything, the only reason I turn it on is if I am doing something other than watching the screen(like schoolwork)

I always have the sound on, because I am usually having to get up several times throughout the game. The only site I had sounds muted were the iPoker sites (Titan, CD, etc.)...I absolutely could not stand the voice overs for the players/dealer: "Fold. Fold. Fold." So freaking annoying. I did keep the chips sounds and alerts on though.

I choose some of the sounds, card dealt, check, bet and fold on stars. I like to hear how fast a decision is made. I realize this doesn't usually mean anything, but if I'm playing an instant bettor in a fast limit game and he takes a half (unintentional) pause or a full (intentional) pause it can mean something.

I keep the sound on for warning I my turn when I am playing mutiple games or tournaments at same time sort of a way to keep track what is going at the table and which game needs my immediate attention.

I definitely have the sound on for at least the beep that it's my turn. I like how Full Tilt has a different sound for a person betting than they do for raising.

I almost always play with sound. I have four kids and if they are up and about I sometimes get distracted (I know ewww LOL) But I also kinda like the sounds and notice if I'm not hearing them (like my computer has been muted)

I leave the sound on. As a live player, there are certain sounds you just associate with being in a poker game - OK, they're fake chip and card sounds online, but it seems weird to play without them

I like the sound on with Full Tilt, but off with PokerStars. I like the fake chips sounds on Full Tilt Poker but I absolutely despise the annoying alarms on PokerStars. Also, I turn the sound down so I can hear it but it won't disturb my family members watching tv while I'm on the laptop in the same room.

I think I turned all sounds off as soon as I started playing poker in July of last year, I listen to music instead as I have quite an extensive library on Itunes.

wow, guess I'm in the minority. I've got all sounds muted (play on Stars). Usually have music on, so computer sound is on, but the fake chips, cards, beeps, etc. are just annoying imo.

I've not played on Stars - I can imagine if the sounds are annoying I might want to turn them off. But the sound effects on Full Tilt are pretty inoffensive.

I have all sounds turned off.

I wear closed headphones but never listen to music while playing poker. Music can not only change your mood subconsciously but even influence your decision making. I also find it distracting when faced with tough decisions.
If I did listen to music, it would be some chilling ambience music without any lyrics.

Funny that about an hour after I started this post the sound on my computer completely disappeared. It was really awkward so I tried playing with it off and NEVER AGAIN. Was a losing session, but I just didn't feel in touch with the game or anything going on.

I usually leave the sound on .. tho some sights age much louder than others and can be annoying.

I noticed UltimateBet is louder than others.. espically their shuffel sound. It really bothers me at times, Carbon on the other hand is very low in comparason. Sometimes I cant hear it when I have other platforms running at the same time.

No i dont have the sound on. When i first started playing on Bodog, it was a real clatter when a load of chips went in and I found it intimidating if I was a short stack. So just got rid of it.

Sometimes I play some music when i'm playing and so the clatter of chips might interfere with that also.
