Do you prefer cash games or tournies? If you're like me, you'll take poker however you can get it. However, if you had 3 games to choose from at the same time, which would you pick? Cash game, tourney with no rebuys or a tourney with rebuys?

Cash. Winrate is higher and stacks are deeper. Converting a little towards SNGs for the shove/fold play with the wonderful amount of complications caused by ICM and stack sizes, but cash is how I learned poker, it's my best game and the game in which you can earn the most money.

I prefer cash games. Although i lost all the winnings i made from freerolls, i do better at cash games. I just have to make some adjustements to my tilting problems. I made 30 dollars with just 2 dollars in 2 days playing 1c/2c, and lost all of it in one hour. I was stupid and i know that u don't have to tell me But i know now how to adjust my game. I made a big announce "Be patient!!!!" and i've put it on the wall. And the advice i give to all beginners who play at microstakes is to be patient and they will make profit. I do good in freroll tournaments but i kinda suck at turbo SG. I do not know why. At freeroll tournaments i get in the money 1 of 5-6 times and win the tournament 1 in 30-40 times. At turbo SG i never done better that 40%. Maybe is because i played double or nothing and play too tight. Not the case at headsup where most of the time i overplay my opponents and i think headsup is what i should play from now on when playing turbo SG.

I would love to say Cash games because of the freedom of time. However I hate to admit it but I'm just not very good at cash games. Ill put my vote in for tourney's. Either SnG's or MTTs. But not the Re-buys, they're too much like freerolls with the way people play.

re: Do you prefer cash games or tournies? poker I occasionally play cash games when waiting for a tourney to start or when I know I only have a little time to play a few hands... but don't seem to be able to do to well. Playing mainly the micro stakes at the moment until I build a sizeable BR, there are just as many donks playing at that level as there are in the (non-CC) freerolls!! Plus, even though it's only micro stakes to enter a hand, there is always some jerk on there who shoves all-in with his ($5-10ish) stack to push the small stacks off the pot. I hate rebuy's... it seems that if you bust out then a simple way to pay back into the game exists. Only those with a decent BR to start with can afford the numerous rebuy's, as well as the tourney fee. For me, Freezeout Tourney's are where it's at... lot's of poker for a small buy-in. I don't have to worry about losing a great deal of my money each hand, which is psychologically a big asset. I know that tourney's produce more variance and it's harder to win at them, but since I got into poker by watching Late Night and WSOP shows, where else can I get practice for the WSOP? Martin Luther King once had a dream... and I do too!

re: Do you prefer cash games or tournies? poker If I could play cash games and win the would be my favorite, but I've never had continued success playing in cash games. Right now I juts play low level SnG and Tournies. Maybe when I can build up a bigger bank roll I'll go back and practice my cash game,.

That's an easy one...CASH! Although in real life I'd prefer the 2 table tourneys because there are the reading skills involved and I like competition, In online poker the win rate is much higher(and quicker) in cash games... Rebuy tourneys is a joke!I don't believe in it!

100 dollars in one mounth for a beginner at microstakes is the best . U have to be lucky to grow up faster. I think good SG players can make more money at 2.4 $ SG that a player at microstakes. And also good turnament players can hit the jackpot once a mounth and don't have to rely on cash games. I also think old players with experience make money playing tournaments. SG and cash , Holdem or Omaha. I saw players on full tilt playing 200$ or 500 buy-in tournaments, getting in the money once at 7-10 tournaments making in one day more than i make in a year. Saw same players playing high stackes . |

i was a tournament player during the early stages of my poker life. when i was able to build a decent BR i tried playing cash game. it was good at start winning about 0.25bb/100hands.. but then there comes the inevitable variance and the huge downswing crippled me hard that i could not bare it. i stopped playing for a while and went back to sng's and tournies. now it will take a while i guess before i get back to playing cash games... lesson learned is if i lose 4bi in a game, STOP!

I like tourneys, because there is a chance for a big payday. Also, I like how you you have a sense of how you did against the field of all other players. You more or less can keep score on how you did by where you finished. As well as, there is a clear goal of finishing first. You get a real sense of accomplishment when you finish first in a tournament that you don't get by playing cash games, even if you win a lot of money playing cash games.
