Distractions
ChuckT wrote in his blog;
I’ve also started multitabling (two tables only, please!) them and have had good results. I think the fact that 1) It keeps me busy enough not to start watching TV or checking cardschat, and 2) It keeps my play simple since I have enough time to patiently wait for a solid hand to play, have really had a good effect and I think I just may stick to two tables from now on when playing SnGs. I too find a distraction helpful. He plays multitable, I play a totally different game, one that will tuck neatly in a corner of the screen and allow my racing mind a distraction from OVERTHINKING hands. I can see my position, and my cards, and in the early stages of MTT's have little else to do. Early MTT's it seems nearly usless to compile notes on most aggressive players, often they are gone or moved to another table by the time things settle down. I say nearly useless. I note showdowns, and repeat wins. Little else in the first 30 minutes or so. Multi Table was better last year for me when I was doing a subconscious study of card flow. So for now, single table with a distraction on the side other than something that totally sucks me in, is fine. For sng's I pay much more attention, compiling notes on plyers and plays. But still, in the early stages I would just as soon let the wheat seperate from the chaff. As BBB said once, at that stage "it is much to early to take a whack at the pinata".
