Discussion of Online Transaction Alternatives

Since the fate of Neteller is speculative and the reactions by poker sites to Neteller's situation is mixed, it would be a good idea to share experiences with other online transaction sources. Some of the major mentions are:

• ePassporte
• Click2Pay
• ATM Online
• Instant eCheck (by each poker site)
• and more...

(Credit cards are not an option for US players.)

Please share any experiences with these or other payment processors and online e-wallets. To relate things like fees, processing time, reliability, etc. would be helpful to all.

I know alot of you shy away from Western Union, but I use it as my only method of deposit, they charge me $15 fee to use thier service, the funds are processed with-in the hour of the transaction and I have had no problems, the only catch is , being with Pokerstars I have to deposit using cash as PS does not accept credit/debit through western union.
Otherwise not one problem when making a deposit and I have been depositing using Western Union since May, whan I opened up my Pokerstars account.

western union is another option and very fast. albeit not cheap. the cost varies on the amount you are sending. for questions call 1-800-325-6000.

I'm more concerned about withdrawing than depositing. Any ideas as to what the best route for that would be? Will sites just mail a check if you request it?

I have tried a few, but prefer click2pay over anyother. However, I wish the processing time was quicker. They take my money out pretty quick, but it took about 4-5 days to deposit back into my account. Granted there was a weekend and holiday during that time. I also just received an ATM card from them, and will be able to put any winnings directly on to that card. I have not tried it yet, but hopefully it will be quicker.

Well, now that Neteller officially has banned US customers from using Neteller for any Poker transactions, we need info more than ever. KEEP IT COMING!

Apparently "InstaDebit" is the new Neteller for US citizens, according to an email from Absolute. It doesn't accept anyone who isn't from US/Canada so I can't exactly see it becoming market leader, but it's an alternative that's for sure.

I like the instant check option, fast, reliable. Until that dosent work anymore no reason to do anything else.

click2pay is free, but not all sites use it.

i just heard about a site that takes U.S. credit cards. It's called BetZip -- i think it's worth checking out.

Instant e-check can no longer be used by US players

I've played on BetZip -- I think it's pretty good. It's not a rake site, but they've got some good tournaments. Didn't mean it to sound like a plug -- just thought it was useful to know that they take US credit cards.

Having tried to read through the illegal gambling bill, I noticed they were very broad in covering alternatives.

It could be mere days before the alternatives above close out US players.

What I did notice however is that old fashioned checks and the mail, were not discussed. Rather, I did not see them discussed. It may be slow lo tech stuff, but it also might combat that instant urge that causes many to be the cause of the initial legislation.

For the rake a computer is taking, for little human effort, I would think they could process checks and only add the cost of the postage to the fee. This would be site specific.

The alternative is revolution.

I read an article when the gambling bill first came out that said U.S. banks were going to be barred from cashing checks from gambling sites.

Perhaps U.S. players should be opening a Swiss bank account. Apparently that is not difficult to do. Also Neteller defines a U.S customer as someone with a U.S. mailing address. You can get a mailing address outside the U.S. from companies such as UPS and maybe register with Neteller that way and use the Swiss bank account to transfer funds back and forth?

If you go with a site that will work directly with your savings account. Just set up a minimal ballance to get away from bank fee's. Open a savings account at a bank you do no other business with and use that. There are banking rules that eveybank puts in there legal rules when you have multiple accounts that all banks have. A#1 is, that if one of your accounts over drafts. They then they have the right to use money from another account that you are a signatur on to cover that overcharge and fees. That even goes for cosigners on the account. One thing for sure, the bank has control over your money while in thier bank and they don't lose. Besides, kinda hard to overdraft a savings account to boot. This method also, and for all sites I've see avoids the handling charges that a netteller or similar 3rd party poker skims off.

An option on Bodog - is it better/worse than click2play (which is also an option).

I just don't want to set up an account, put money into it, and then not be able to get it to Bodog because I'm in the states.

Is Click2Play free? I thought I read on their website something about a $10 fee?
