| Dilemma Alright, here's my first post on this forums, already enjoying my time here. I've been playing poker for around 2 years now, and i've been playing seriously for around a half a year. I still know I have an extremely large amount of flaws, but I do consider myself to be better than the average donk at low levels. Here's my dilemma, when it comes to poker, I much rather prefer to play tournaments, as I enjoy the change and adaptations that need to be made throughout the tournament, and on the other hand, I am much more successful in ring games. My question to you all is; should I play ring games to build my bankroll up easier, or should i stick to real low stakes SnG's and try to improve my game in the game that I prefer? |

| Recap - you are successful in cash games but enjoy tournaments. You can play both, make ring games your normal grind, and play a tourney or two with a portion of your profits from ring. If you are more successful in one form of play than an other, it is a poor financial decision to forgo your strength simply on preference. That does not mean however that your personal preference should not matter, so as you are improving your tourney play, you are financing your learning curve with a game you are good at but not as fond of. GL to you. |

Why do you play? If for enjoyment, then play the game you enjoy. If for profit, well, follow the profit. Or play ring till you have enough BR to enter the SnG buy in you want. If you enjoy tournies better, I would stick with em till you are better, which will happen with time anyway (assuming you are working on your game simultaneously as well) |

| I think you have to address your reasons for playing and the amount of volume you play. IF you play relatively low volume and play primarily for fun then play what ever you enjoy the most. If you play for primarily for the money and play higher volume then you need to play whatever you make the most money from. Not everybody plays for the same reasons. So really you need to ask why you play and from that decide what you should play. |

| I have similar situation. Im a winning player at the SnG's but enjoy the freedom of cash games. But until I can get better at cash Im going to stay where Im making a profit. LeatherA$$ makes a good point in one of his CardPlayers Articles where he talks about staying at the games youre good at and not spreading your self to much over other games. You dont see many pro athletes playing two sports. They stay where they're good at. |

Thanks for the nice comments about me Grossberger, the tournament was fun and couldnt have lost to a better opponent, the money I lost is minuscule compared to the knowledge I'll gain here. |
