| Deposited 50$ to PS today , Currently at 80$ ;-) Well , I've been reading and practicing the last couple of days. Yesterday night we hosted live game (7 players cash game NLHE) and I entered with 14$ to the table (blinds are 10c/25c), and came out with 192$ !!! (8 hours of game). Today I deposited 50$ to PS , sat on 3 tables of 10nl but it was too low for me , couldnt stand the low pots , so after 30 minutes where I earned like 3$ I moved to the 25nl tables (entered 2 tables with 25$) Played it tight aggressive and won 1 big pot with straight against a set (the villain made a value bet of 1$ on the flop where I had pocket 6 and inside straight on the flop , I called the bet - 1$ for 6$ pot and hit the inside on the turn) then after I had the straight he pushed all in (another 15$) , got an insta call... on the other table I got around 6$ profit just by re raising when I had a feeling someone tried to bluff the pot (twice). Made a squeeze bet (he raised 1$ , I put over 5$) and got the pot twice. When I did the re raise I was semi bluffing because I had the mid pair and had feeling he was on a draw. Just felt like sharing , first time I try new play style (compared to my donk style before) and get it right... lol... great site |

| ...and you'll loose everything about.. tomorrow.. It seems like beside all the reading-work you've done, you missed/skipped the holy BANKROLL-MANAGEMENT-thing .. If you play NL25 with a 50$ bankroll its like suicide! ~30 Stacks, at least 20, should be ok. Variance is the devil himself, and sooner or later he'll catch you when playing underrolled! imo.. Play some SNG's and build it up to 500-750.. thats about ok for NL25 .. |

| re: Deposited 50$ to PS today , Currently at 80$ ;-) poker How many times can you afford to redeposit after you go busto? If $50 is nothing to you, do go ahead and have fun. If it's a lot of money, you should consider learning about bankroll management. |

| Yes, like others have said use br management!!! When i was new to poker i deposited 15 dollars on pokerstars worked my way up to 98 dollars in less than 6 hours and thought i was some kind of poker wizard or something, moved up to 25 nl and lost all of it in less than a day... at least i cashed out $25 before i lost it all. The downswing is terrible. All it takes is a couple of big pots on 25 nl and your roll will be gone. For instance i lost with a nut flush, suspected the guy had a boat but couldnt fold it, somebody shoved pf and i called with KK, and i got my set busted moments later. |

So now we switch to tourneys ?? Why, the payouts are bigger? If you don't have the patience to grind on the cash tables to your goal, how will you survive grinding out hours in MTT's ??? You say 'first prize only $7'. Is there something wrong with an ROI of 700% ?? What post will we see 'if' you only make it ITM to $1.40 payout ?? Now that others have made their point about BR management, for the very next item on your agenda you might consider adding 'patience'. GL in your quest for the Brass Ring ... | I finally understand Bankroll Management Read this ^^^ (explains it well and has charts too) If you have less then $100 dollars you should probably be playing $2NL. Set goals for yourself to move up to the next limit...makes it much easier to grind through some of the sessions where the cards are not falling. More importantly, set limits for yourself and stick to them. Example: When I get my bankroll up to $100 Im going to take a shot at $5NL...if it doesnt work out then Im back down to $2NL I built a bankroll from 71 cents up to over $400 with good bankroll management (Im currently playing $10NL with no thoughts of moving up to $25NL anytime soon) , but before I learned BM I lost many a $50 buyin playing at limits that were over my head. Patience, grasshopper. Last edited by Toad : 10th February 2009 at 7:18 PM. |

| Do you like SNGs? PS has some Double or Nothing SNGs that are great for bankroll building. If your goal is to double up everytime you sit down then they can work for you if you are patient Thanks for the Bankroll link Toad, as I need it! |

actually the double or nothings aren't worth it. they are horrible. you have to get itm over 50% of the time... the rake is huge and the roi is small. |

You should have around 30 full stacks for the level you want to play at. 20 is a little looser and like 50 stacks a bit more conservative... Figure out for yourself where you play comfortable at. And also where you think you can beat the game! WHen I had a small roll on PS, I grinded it up with $3 and $5 SNG's, until I got 2nd in a $5 MTT for ~$1k.. tadaa there was my bankroll.. Like already said, patience is really important, too. If you will build your BR up to 750$ in some days, be sure that luck and variance made most of it. So with $50 theres nothing wrong in playing the $1 SNG's (although I dont like the rake there..) and trying out the $3 and $5 occasionally. gl with that man!! And read some of the "bankroll management" articles around the web ! |

| As someone who has busted out a lot of deposits on playing $0.50c/$1.00 before I had the right bankroll, I STRONGLY recommend lowering your stakes and playing with proper BRM, unless your favourite part of poker is getting another of those disposable debit cards to re-deposit (USA! USA!) |
