Dear Mr. Brown,

Thank you for mass emailing me something I already know. I would also like to thank you for your timely return. However, Online poker is overseas because there are financial restrictions regulating the transactions made for betting. Like the stock market, poker, is a "game" of incomplete information with less variables then the stock market. Because of your desire to regulate morality and desire to email me with incomplete facts, you will no longer receive my vote or my encouragement for others to vote for you. To be more blunt I will no longer be voting for your party poker in the future because of the utter incompetence displayed by you and your party poker as a whole and as individuals.

The Internet has become a major portal of communication in today’s world. It transmits all kinds of information and serves as a common form of communication between all citizens; this has transferred to the realm of gambling as well.

Americans bet more than $6 billion a year online. Online gambling opponents argue that because it is largely unregulated, online gambling tempts children and offers an opportunity for criminals to launder money. Regulating the industry is a problem in that most online gambling operations are based overseas and out of reach of US regulation.

On September 30, 2006, Congress passed and sent to President Bush the SAFE Port Act, which included the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

This legislation makes it illegal for Americans to use financial instruments, such as checks and credit cards, to play online poker, place bets, and engage in other forms of gambling. However, the title exempts intrastate and intratribal Internet gambling operations that feature age and location verification requirements imposed as a matter of law.

Currently, bills have been introduced in the Senate and the House of Representatives to repeal or alter the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Should these bills be brought before up for a vote, I will keep your views in mind. Thank you again for getting in touch with me.

As wishy washy a response as can be expected.

I am growing a personal hatred of kids. They are used as scapegoats for the incremental destruction of personal liberties in the US.

The politicians are gonna screw this up. Ironically it is the merging of Republican morals, and some perverted sense of biz ethics that will do us in.

As a Democrat, and a very far left one at that, I think the Democrats have failed us equally badly. They also cite the kids issue.

The only sane political stance on this issues seems to be the Libertarian position. Problem there is the libertarians would put this issue far far down a list of objectives and nothing would change for years.

Im personally in favor of dissolving parties altogether because they absorb power in a system designed to distort power in multiple ways. However Democrats and Republicans are both incredibly ridiculous and incompetent. I have also heard voting for a third party poker is a waste of my vote. I disagree! It is a waste of my vote to vote for one party poker or the other in order to appease the best negative. I vote third party poker because its my vote and i dont want to waste it!

That would mean we should be able to play freerolls and build from there?

I'm having trouble pasting the copies of the letters my U.S. Senators from my state sent me, but here's the run down.

Senator Scott Brown sent me a letter saying thank you for writing in regards to the internet poker and game of skill regulation, consumer protection and enforcement act. He explained how it was introduced to both the senate and HOR during the 111th congress, where it was referred to the senate committee on finance and was not acted upon during the 111th congressional session. He then told me it has to be reintroduce to the 112th congress to be considered. should it be reintroduced, he will keep my views in mind (I feel so special). He did go on to say that he has supported efforts to legalize and regulate slots and casino gambling here in Mass, a good sign, and will give careful consideration to the expansion of internet gambling.

Senator Kerry sent me a form letter basically thanking me for writing him and voicing with my concerns of the matters they're debating in congress, and if the matter is time sensitive, I could call his offices in Mass or Washington where I can speak to a member of his "team" so there is no waiting and they could help me today. Thanks for taking the time to read my e-mail John. I hope all the e-mails from poker players help, but in my opinion, they don't care about all the e-mails, if and when they legalize it, it will because they want they money they get from fees and taxes. I guess we're back to just hoping something good happens soon

Remember why freerolls even exist. They are promo tools intended to get folks to deposit real cash. If we can't, they won't offer them to us.

i love the sentence "i will keep your views in mind." what a great way of saying i don't have the balls to pick a side in this situation. i get the same b.s., no commitment either way reply from pennsylvania elected officials. personally i won't vote for anyone who doesn't openly support the regulation of online poker.
