Yes, this is true. And in club and pub games etc. Its not so hard to learn. But if you always throw a card face up or whatever, you can often get the player on your left/right to deal twice, but the button rotates as always. And dont think you have to throw the cards across the table like a pro, just do it any way thats easy for you. |

For cash games we would pass the deal around the table all game. But for tournies it would start with like 5-8 tables of 9 players doing the pass the deal around the table thing, but once it started getting thinned out, people who had busted out would start dealing and we would break out the "dealer" chips.

We always pass dealer around, and use a dealer chip, players who are less confident at it just deal in a smaller circle and pass the cars to the players when they are done. If you play a lot but aren't confident its much better to take the opportunity to practice. After all, you are playing with friends, they ought to forgive you for any mistakes you make learning.

Every time I played a home game, we took turns. I do card magic so handling cards is something natural to me. It's fun to say stuff like "I'll just give my self pocket aces this time but I'll give someone pocket kings" since I only play with friends and family that kind of humour is great.

re: Dealing at Home Games - Anyone Else Hate It?? poker If you're playing home games with people you know, then you can enjoy and have fun. For me, Button deals. if button is not much of a dealer or don't like dealing, we normally try to make someone who's not in the game deal. But normally, button deals. Here's a little story where i experienced about 2 years ago or so. NEVER play random Home Games with people you don't know Just remember, home games where you're playing with people you don't know with, there can be card sharps. Just be careful or at least beware of it.

I deal for a job so most of the time when I'm playing with friends I end up being the designated dealer all night. My friends prefer it because the game goes a heap faster and smoother and I prefer it because being dealt to by people who have no clue what they're doing puts me on bajungi life tilt. It's one of the many reasons I hate playing in self-dealt pub tournaments...

re: Dealing at Home Games - Anyone Else Hate It?? poker If we must pass the deal we use 2 decks so the current SB (next BTN) can shuffle a deck and be ready to deal the next hand as soon as the current hand is finished. Usually these days though we bring in dealers (often young women ) who deal for tips all night. We play $1/$2 and it's not uncommon for a dealer to make a few hundred for dealing for 4 or 5 hours.

I agree with WVHillbilly. We always used two new decks one blue and one red and dealer shuffled muck cards after pot broke. Current dealer only had to get a cut and deal. When we had 9 people playing we passed the deal around to the left and dealer sat out his deal. When we started playing Holdem and Omaha we really did not need to, but when we played stud we did it so as to not come up short with cards.
