| Dealer Error In my weekly home game we play 4 games. NL Hold'em, PLO, PLO8, and Stud 8. During the stud rotation, I was out of the hand and not in the room but when I got in there was a big argument going on. The dealer, we play with a steady dealer who is also in the game to make things easier. He dealt the river face down, but announced that one of the players cards flashed and kept dealing passed him. So a whole argument ensued on what to do. I didn't speak up and they ultimately ended up chopping the pot 4 ways. I think the official ruling would be the same as any Hold'em game where an exposed card is taken away and a new card is dealt. But my head was not clear from all the argument and I was thinking maybe his card is just replaced with the burn card before the river. I'd like if someone can clarify this for me, thanks. |

| It's an obscure situation but the correct ruling is actually neither of those things. Since there were more than two players in the hand the player who received the exposed card keeps it, face up, and everybody else gets their river cards face down. The player who received the face-up card has the option of declaring himself "all in" - as in, he can opt for the rest of the hand to be played as though he was all in at the end of the action on sixth street (no matter how much he has behind) so he's still eligible ot win the main pot but any betting from the other players still in the hand (which proceeds as normal) goes into a side pot. | re: Dealer Error poker Oh wow, now that is a similar suggestion I made when the hand was over and I got jumped on by two players saying that is absolutely no way how it's handled. So I'm glad to see I'm right, just don't think my group will adopt this rule and will opt to replace the river with a new card, but I'm showing them this just to say I told you so. Thanks. |

Rule #1 of both Razz and Stud8 states that all the Stud Hi rules apply with a few exceptions. The procedure for dealing with an upcard on the river isn't one of those exceptions so the solution does pertain to those games. http://www.homepokertourney.com/robe..._STUD_LOW_RAZZ http://www.homepokertourney.com/robe..._STUD_HIGH-LOW |
