You hear about bad beats so often I wanted to switch it up a little and share a story about one of the biggest pots I've ever won. The cards completely played themselves so it was just a really lucky situation to be in but it's still an amazing hand.
I was playing $2-5 NL at the Taj Mahal in AC. I had been playing for about 6 hours and was sitting with $1100 at about 3 in the morning. I had been on a fairly good rush for the past hour or so with about 3 or 4 fish dumping money on the table constantly. I was in middle position and got A 4 of diamonds. A loose player made it $15 to go in UTG+1. Two more called, I called. Then this lady who was in a terrible mood moves all-in for her last $46. SB, BB, and the other two original callers call and I'm forced to with the
odds I'm getting. This was the biggest preflop pot the table's had in a long time. The flop comes down 4 4 6 rainbow. I felt like acting like the guy in the full tilt comercial who gets aces and starts stripping while going all in. In the BB was this craziest richest LAG you will ever come across in a $2-5 game. I saw him call pot sized bets for $500 with gutshots and think it was the right move. So this guy decides to push in for about $650. It folds around to the other biggest fish at the table, a really passive player who calls with most draws without really considering odds. He thinks about it for a real long time. After a couple of minutes he decides to move in as well for $700. It comes to me, with the biggest smile on my face, make an instant call praying to the poker gods I don't get sucked out on. Turn and rive both come down blank blank and the deal pushes me the biggest pile of red and green chips I've ever had in front of me in a live cash game. The best part of the hand was then the lady that pushed preflop for $46 asked me for her money back. I gave it to the dealer instead. The lady showed me KJo, the crazy rich guy shows 67o, and the passive guy mucked his hand without showing. I stayed for another hour or so and ended up leaving the table with that hand plus a little extra. I can't wait to find a ring game like that again.
