Comments that really get under your skin

We've all been at a table where we've lost hands that the other guy had no right in the world winning. But to put icing on the cake they come back at you with some retarded comment. Let me know some of the comments that really get under your skin in situations like these. For me I just cant stand the old "TY".

"TY" used to do it for me.

I have really had to turn things around and just consider how lucky I am to be at the table with such fish. I now enjoy it when they make such comments as it is likely a sign of just what a fish they are. My money is only on loan and I will get it back...with interest.

I simply respond "nh" and ask the poker gods to keep them at my table a little longer!

I wish I could say nothing bothers me and I don't steam, but I really hate it when some idiot blinds down all of his chips. Then gives me garbage when I call his all in nothing raise with a weak hand because of pot odds.

Even more then that is when some idiot tries to justify his bad call due to pot odds when he really has no idea what they mean. He just uses them because it’s the loser’s only hope to save face.

I too would like to say I'm bulletproof. Alas, someone will beat my very good hand with a great hand, and try to berate me. I mute em.

Probably the best strategy for dealing with the idiot comments. And best for your poker game.

BTW, I didn't want to give the impression that nothing ever gets to me. But I work really hard to not let the comments affect my temperment. I am more likely to find myself steaming from a string of bad beats. Nonetheless, I think one of the most underrated skills of a good poker player is the ability to avoid tilt and play a solid game even in frustrating circumstances.

I like to say "It was all skill, no luck" after I get completely lucky. Usually people laugh. Usually.

I am getting better at this. (online - no real live experience)

I`m one of the "nh" brigade. I think of the times I muffed out someone else.

I also remember some poker expert saying that it is pointless telling everyone how bad a call another player made. The other players really don`t care and the guy who took your cash laughs.

So no point going OTT !!!

The best wind up comment I know is this :-

Freddy vs Jimmy

Freddy sucks out a seemingly impossible draw to knock Jimmy out of the tourney

Freddy :- "Have all the fish gone now?"

I hate it when they have a terrible hand, and get a lucky flop and then go on saying that "you called with that" when i had them dominated preflop. best thing to do is ignore them and move on. Sometimes thats hard to do though

"nh" doesn't annoy me, it's when they say "nh" EVERY hand. Then proceed to throw the v in front if the winning hand was trips or a boat. I realize some people are just trying to be polite or friendly, but as I tend to tell those people...poker isn't about being civil, if you want to be civil, go play chess.

Ty after I lose a good hand to a better hand p's me off. The most unique comment I have heard lately came from a player where I bet the pot after the turn. This individual had the guts to inform me that I raised because I was scared to let them see the river. Not only was I shocked but I had the decency not to repond. Actually did not have too. The rest of the table did it for me.

The nh or vnh is aggravating when a person gets really lucky with a bad hand. Now I know a lot of people use this as a back handed compliment but there are those who are actually giving props to someone who backed into a good hand.

I play at PokerStars.

The chat used to annoy me when they would get the miracle runner runner and say things like "sorry about that"

I always click the info tab now, that way I don't get to see the chat.

Doing that means I do not get distracted.

I hate it when someone calls bets to the river with a massive hand and then says "Ty". "Why didn't you raise?", says I. "I wanted you to hang yourself." "But you have position and could have raised me at any time! Worse case that could happen is me betting/folding?". "Stupid Fish".

I love it when a really bad player starts winning from suckouts. I start telling them "nh", to try and keep them in the habit!

I'm a lover of fish! I'm patient (and getting more patient) and I can usually pick the fish off the table. I just hate losing to a fish and then having the tables restructured. I WANT MY CHIPS BACK!!!!

Guess you've not played much chess! I find poker to be much more civil...and I play a lot of chess.

Until you understand this concept, you don't understand the game. If you are not getting bad beats, you are not at a good table (not good player, but good money). If you scare away the fish, you lose money! Rule number one of fishing and poker: DON'T SCARE AWAY THE FISH!

Yea, but you dont have to go to the info tab. I know you are aware that click on on the chip stack for the drop down window and then remove the check marks where it says "player comments" and " observer's Comments" or something like that.

But, best to mute out players and observers in order to conscentrate on playing poker.

Seriously, I'm not bothered by any comment someone makes. Usually it is me making these godridden remarks. My favourite is (when I win a hand I shouldn't have) "nh" to myself and add to it "thanks. I guess it was well played" :-p

How long do you complain? Or how often? If people keep it up to long or complain about other peoples' play too often I will definitely tell them to quit crying. If you can't take a bad beat you probably should play a different game.

TY is awful but when nothing is worse to me than 'lol'.
Only because I KNOW they are actually laughing AND
I picture some 15 year old boy wearing his pants down past his knees and thinking he's the best b/c he donked out.

That really makes me really mad

People who post lol or lmao or any of those other idiotic laughing anagrams get on my nerves in general. Especially when nothing funny happened. Usually I make some comment about how nice it must be to be so easily amused.

I hate it when people say sorry. You're not sorry....sometimes tho...I'll say....yes, you are.

I've only said sorry one time.....I think i had A6, flopped ak6, was pushed all in...so i went all in...person had ak, I rivered a 6.

I truly wasn't happy with my play...I said....I NEVER say this..but, sorry.

I hate hearing the whiners start calling everyone else donks and fish when they are sitting at the rail.

Also when I hit some miracle shot i usually lighten the mood with "boy am I glad I tipped the dealer well"

Yea, railbirds are by far the worst. Essp when they don't even talk about the hand they lost with but start calling you names haha, I was cracking up at someone SO angry -- they called me a 'Obese American, who should 'get shot'.
I figured it was one of those kids...with the baggy jeans...

I have one thing that when someone says it to me I want to grab them by the neck and smash their face into the felt.

Its when they have made a bad call and suck out, then they look at you and say "SORRY"

It sends me into fits of rage because I know damn well that they arent sorry whatsoever. In fact they are deep down pissing their sides.

Its the same online. If I get a bad beat and they type sorry I have to use all my energy to stop me going into a rant because the last thing they are feeling is sorry, and if they know after the event they shouldnt have called, they must know before the event as well they shouldnt call..

Its the most patronising thing you can say at a table, because the simple truth is its the biggest lie ever. You arent sorry one bit..

old thread, but the one that's really annoying me lately is when someone is all-in(usually a freeroll) and they get called, and just before the cards are revealed they say, 'Ive got to go now, anyway' cause they've pushed with a crap hand, and want to make it look like they had othr plans anyway, to save face with their crap-hand push. And then, the thing that really bugs me, is they then hit their 2-outer, or miracle card or whatever, and then they suddenly decide they havent got to go now, and coninue to play the game. Every 5 minutes after that happens i ask them, 'hey, thought you had to go somewhere?'
