Clearing Up The Subject of "Poker Account Sharing"

Recently, there has been some discussion about if and when it is OK to share poker accounts. Well, now it looks like the poker rooms are clearing up the subject for us:

but yet full tilt still allows tons of high profile players to have tons of accounts?

but as for Dustin on pokerstars yea he got banned there for sharing accounts but the Full Tilt issue is because of letting certain players use their account.

Hi all,
Yeah that's great but how on earth do you tell when someone else is playing under your name? I made the post the other night about knowing one person at the table having at least three accounts that he made known while I was there, two different situations.
How do you catch someone with multiple accounts?
How do you know when someone is allowing someone else to play for them?

In both cases if the person in question doesn't openly admit it then it's fairly impossible to catch them.

IP adresses if you suspect someone then they can track it and see, but if they dont have any reason to suspect someone then no they would never know. Im still trying to get full tilt to close some of my accounts, I have like 3 or 4.

That doesn't really 'clear up' anything, sorry.

JJProdigy was a known cheater who was banned from FT, obviously anyone who lets someone who is banned play on their account is going to have action taken against them as well.

Knowing all the stuff that's been said about Neverwin in the last few months, imo there's only a very small chance that nothing dodgy aside from multiaccounting has gone on there, too.

These cases certainly aren't as simple as "x had to go and let y take over for the rest of such and such a donkament", anyway.

Edit: Now this is more like it in terms of 'clearing things up'

Stars tourney rules...

With trivial exceptions, a player may play on only one account during a tournament and may not "hand off" his seat in mid-event to a different player. Violation of this rule may result in penalties ranging from a warning, to disqualification from the tournament (with partial or full forfeiture of winnings), to barring from PokerStars.

Examples:
You get a phone call during a PokerStars tournament. You ask your husband, who has already busted out of that tournament, to play your hands for you. You are on the phone for ten minutes and then resume play. This is permitted.
You and a friend, who is a tournament pro, are playing in the same tournament. You agree that if he busts out before you do, he will take over playing your account. This is prohibited.
You are playing in a tournament and lose power in your home due to a failure of your power station. You call a friend and he takes over until your power is returned. This is permitted.
Your husband is out of town for the weekend, but gives you his password. You log into both his account and yours and play both accounts in the same tournament. This is prohibited.

I don't see how they hope to police it, I mean, take example 2. .

What is to stop said busted out pro looking over your shoulder, telling you exactly what plays to make for each hand?

Or is this simply a case of, if you start a tournament with an IP logged for one machine, then midway through the tournament you switch to an IP logged for a different machine, you're in hot water?

But then how can they prove that the power didn't go out and you've subsequently asked a friend, a member of pokerstars himself, to play for you?

Seems impossible to monitor to me.
