chip counting

I host poker games at home but i often have a problem with forgetting how many chips we have in our chip stacks which is annoying when players go all in and have to count them up. Instead of writing the chip numbers down on paper, does anyone know an online website in which you can use to count chips, or does any one know a computer programme that will do it?

just stack the chips 10 chips per stack,then u can just to the chips value x10

Neat stacks are the key to speedy counting. Not sure how a website or a program could be of any help here.

neat stacks in colors should be a rule at the table..IMO..but ur gonna be counting chips till the end of time..no CPU programs or sites gonna help.

Usually, for me, the players call it "I'm all in for $xxx.xx" and if you get a call, you see which player is outstacked. Even if they have a mess of a stack, it's pretty easy to create stacks and do a quick count.

Seems like it was a bit of a stupid question now lol
I don't know why I didn't use common sense and think of stacking the chips.
Although it means that players cant play with their chips which can sometimes be useful as a tell.

They can still play with their chips. Usually people tend to shuffle 8 to 10 chips so you just have to account for those as well. No biggie.

Also, not sure how many chips you're using, but you may want to purchase some larger denominations for re-buys. If I start a table with 6 people (or so) and everyone gets a full stack, usually after 2 people have been given full stack re-buys, I'll hand the next people to re-buy 1-4 chips of a larger value and have them use the other players to "color down" or break their chips up. This gives the larger stack players a nice size chip, plus keeps the table a little easier to look at.

Another thing you can / should do is have no more than 4 denoms in play at any given time and preferably 3. Color up those small denoms as soon as they are no longer needed to meet your blind / ante requirements.

If you're playing tourney style. We play mostly cash, so there's not usually a color-up point. But good call for tourney style as you will want to color up in later stages.
