Yes I was actually looking for info on a hotel room.

The microtell is close and not to expensive or wasnt when I stayed there first stop. However I only use the room for showers and minimal sleep.

Hey everyone! My name is Reid Young and I'm excited for the opportunity to represent Team CardsChat at Cherokee this April.

I'll play as many flights as necessary, with a maximum re-entry number of 3 times, if I'm understanding the format correctly? In any case, I'll be going hard!

A little bit about me as a poker player is that I've been playing poker for 11 years, 8 of which I've played professionally and focused mostly on NLHE and PLO cash games. For those cash games, most of my play has been short-handed (6-max, typically) and heads up. I love the action and marginal spots that short handed play creates, but I'm also a very disciplined and mathematically inclined player. So just because I like playing heads up, I won't hop into a re-entry trying to play 60% of my hands pre-flop :p

I've played and beaten over 100k hands at $5000NL, I've played in the wsop numerous times (6 now, I believe?), I've played in the pokerstars PCA tournament in Atlantis a few times, dabble in live cash games, and enjoy the occasionally tournament / vacation trip to wherever, Costa Rica to Paris. My bread and butter has been $1000NL whereat I've had a win rate of 4bb/100. Now, my game of choice would be a speed game like PokerStars Zoom that plays short-handed, for reasons mentioned.

I've written a poker strategy book called The Blue Book, which is now 4.5 years old. I've written for CardPlayer Magazine and published many articles with them. I post loads of strategy and comprehensive answers, typically in middle-stakes NLHE threads. I love poker with all my heart and really every single thing about it. I'm also starting my own poker training site, which is a new way to express that love for poker and the people who enjoy playing the game!

I guess that's about it. Other random crap, I took all my pre-requisite classes for medical school as an undergraduate at Wake Forest University, finishing them just as I decided to play poker professionally. I enjoy learning about anything; but, these days it's mostly been poker, math, statistics, business, web design, and game theory that have caught my eye. I finished school with a degree in Philosophy (knowing that I would be playing poker professionally!).

Best to all you guys. I can't wait for Cherokee!

Reid

Welcome to the team - will add you to the list! What size do you need for a hoodie - and would you want a t-shirt and/or baseball cap to wear?

Holy crap! What a resume...

Nice resume...

Thanks, gents. Hope to high five you guys in Cherokee!

Thanks, Dakota! I'm pumped, as you know!

Medium all around. I would definitely prefer wearing a shirt to a hoodie, if possible. I'm planning on intimidating people into folding with my flexed biceps, so going with a t-shirt is more +EV for team CardsChat :)

Ha - stay off my table! ;)

The hoodies are kind of required - since it makes a bigger statement for everyone to look similar.

However I will bring you a t-shirt too - of course it is okay to take the hoodie off and put it on your chair when it gets to warm - I think we will all have to do that at some point. :)

What size?

I think I am going to do that too. We could have fun on Friday instead. :)

Oh nice, then I want to play Saturday's instead. Will still arrive on that Friday:)

I'm thinking the same.... arrive & relax Friday, lounge some at Brio, and play some sattys and ring.

BTW, just returned from Cherokee and am sad to report the disrepair of many of the tables in poker room. The room manager assured us of improvement (something to do with batteries from China) by WSOP time, I sure hope so because at least 1/2 the room is down now.

The Saturday Flight B at noon, should conclude 9ish or so, that's good for us seniors, lol.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

They have posted the structure sheet. If I am reading it correctly, the flight that starts at 5 p.m. will not end until 2 a.m.? Geez, I'm an old geezer. I don't know if I can stay up that late!! But that would be a good problem to have, I suppose. You play 15 levels the first day for a total of eight hours (30 minutes each for the first 12 levels, and then 40 minutes for each of the last 3 levels), and then there are four 15-minute breaks after levels 3, 6, 9 and 12. This will be a test of endurance as much as poker skills!!

heehee... I've been going to local HG's that run to 2-3 for acclamation... problem is I miss breakfast at 7ish.

Medium hoody as well, please. I'm down for consistency, especially for photo ops :)

PokerSprout where are you located now?

Charlotte, NC. I'm down to grab a drink with any poker player anytime, so let me know! Anyone can PM me, I'm cool with whatever.

We can all exchange phone numbers before we go. Sounds like there might be a group of us around on Friday.
