CardRunners vs. StoxPoker Debating which one to sign up for. I tried out DragTheBar but - eh... a limited amount of videos and a lame vBB (CardsChat is way better) Cardrunners seems to have more instructors, more videos, and overall more information but carries a hefty price tag. Stox I don't know what their prices are but are any of you on either of these two sites? Or are on both which do you prefer and which one seems to help your game more?

I tried both, and unless you're in the nosebleeds I think I liked Stox a bit better, especially for the money if I'd been paying. If you play at FT at all they have "truly free poker training" or something like that where they give you free membership to either/both in the priority order of your choosing based on how many FPP's you earn in a month. And they do partial weeks, so <1k points in a month gets you a week to DL whore it up.

What date DTB was established? I'm just curious about that. I personally didn't find the Stox site attractive, too clustered and IMO not a very user friendly site, the page layout has too much on it for it to be attractive, the DTB interface is nice and easy to navigate but features seem slim, not to mention some of those videos will not load. "Video Not Found Errors" etc. I do have to say that that asian tourney player's videos are entertaining and it's funny to hear him talk to his GF in the background and when he's eating while filming you can hear the *crunch* *crunch* *crunch* So as far as DTB and Stox are concerned I enjoy the layout of DTB there's just not a lot of content thus far. Didn't like the layout and appeal of Stox. But how about CardRunners? Any opinions on them? Last edited by dakota-xx : 21st January 2010 at 3:01 AM. Reason: referenced deleted post

I think DTB looks like a good one to try out. I heard about this when Dusty was on Tony Guerrera's show Killer Poker Analysis 2 weeks ago and it sounded like it would definitely worth trying. Another thing that really kind of shows that it's worth looking at is that Dusty is a co-owner of Stox and he is still recommending against it, you don't see that very often.

re: CardRunners vs. StoxPoker Hey Crummy--Grinder school is pretty good. One of the SnG instructors is suppossedly one of the best players i the world. And being a MTT player I'm a big fan of their MTT videos: one is a sunday Million final table and the other big one is the 750K full tilt win. The heads up coach is also pretty good from what little Ive watched. Im not sure about the cash games because I havent gotten to them yet. As for Stox and Cardrunners I think that full tilt is doing a special.. I got an email recently about earning free membership to both just by earning ful tilt points.

CardRunners is good and publishes daily videos. They're heavily weighted to NLHE, with a PLO video about once a week and a the once-in-a-blue-moon video about another game type. Haven't tried Stox but they do look to have more non-holdem videos. If I had more time I'd sign up there as well, but I don't even get to watching all the CardRunners videos I'd like.

I'm a member at DeucesCracked, Cardrunners and Stox. They all have their merits. DTB has some excellent coaches but not many vids since they are just getting going, but should be a good one in the long run. CR is better for higher stakes. DC has some premier coaches as well as very slickly produced videos. I am a recent new member there and am nowhere near exhausting their mixed game and stud game vids despite having watched about 30-40 of them already. Stox has currently many great coaches as well and you cannot go wrong with Omaha 8 coaches (they have 2!) and the stud based coaches (they have 3!). In fact, the main stud hi-low coach there made the FT of the WSOP Razz MTT this past year and one of the other coaches finished in the top 15. The 3rd coach didn't enter.

If you play at enough at FTP you should sign up at trulyfreepokertraining.com. Sign up with Stox as your 1st choice (my pref between the 2). Earn 3000 FT points in a month you get Stox free (you can also earn partial months eg 1500 points = 1/2 month). Get to 8500 points and you get Stox + CR free. There is no MGR hit so rb is unaffected and there is no catch. I generally get both free and then I pay for DC (my favorite of the 3). Seriously though signing up for the free stuff is a no brainer.
