Card odds

Can anyone help me on the pot odds. I am pretty quick at math but i have not found out clearly if the the number of outs is divided by the all the cards in the deck minus your hole cards and the community cards or if your number of outs is divided by the cards minus all the hole cards and the community cards. If you can help thank you very much.

Pot odds = amount of money already in pot/amount you have to call
For the outs calculation, divide 46 (number of unseen cards) by your number of outs, and subtract one.

here's what it is: Ammount of money already in the pot in relation to how much MORE you have to put in. Example: $8 is in the pot, a player bets $4. Its 4 to you with $12 total. You're getting 3-1 on your money, or for every dollar you put in, you get 3 back if you win.

To determine whether a call is "in the pot odds" Take your outs and divide by cards yet seen. Lets say you have ONLY an outside straight draw. You have 8 outs so (46/8) -1 or about 4.75:1 to make your straight. You aren't getting enough to make this a winning play. With another caller, it'd make you 8-1 on your money, so then you can go ahead and call.

I think you're confusing Pot Odds with outs. Pot odds is simply the ratio of the size of the pot to the cost of calling the bet. If the pot is $100 and the bet is $10 you're getting 10:1 odds to call. Not bad. Outs are the number of cards left unseen (whether or not they're in play) that will improve your hand. Both are used together to determine the long term profitability of making a call. For instance, you're on the small blind with pocket 2's and 3 other players have just called. It will cost you 1/2 a bet to complete. Your pot odds are 7:1. Coincidentally your odds of completing your set is also 7:1. In the long run, this is a break even play. However, your implied odds (what you can expect to make when you do complete the set) is huge so most people will call here.

An open ended straight draw. 8 outs
A gutshot. 4 outs
A flush. 9 outs
A straight flush. 15 outs
