| CAP No Limit and Pot Limit I have been doing fairly well at these cap games over at FTP. Are these good games to be in for a nit player trying to become more TAG? Are there any downfalls to playing CAP games. Obviously it is bad when you have AA and win a much smaller pit due to the CAP but I also figure it is also good when I am all in (capped) and 27o sucks me out that i only lost the cap limit instead of whatever I am sitting with. Is this the nit in me talking? Two extra questions. Knowing that i am nit should I play these at 6 max or full ring? Which will be better if I can get to TAG? | Cap Games stir up more action because people have the mindset that they can lose minimal and just push with their good hands. If you think about it though, this minimizes your edge against worse players whom you can outplay postflop. It turns the game into more of a crapshoot than poker. And if you're a total nit, FR is more suited for you. |

| re: CAP No Limit and Pot Limit poker There's a game out there to suit just about every taste. Preferring a game with a cap isn't the part that makes a player a nit. You (or I) can be just as 'nitty' in Fixed Limit as some are at NL and everything inbetween. Working on becoming a TAG doesn't have anything to do with any 'limit', imo. At any limit (or lack of a limit) a player can play tight. The AG is then only a matter of the EXTENT to which you can become aggressive. If you don't enjoy 'betting the farm' - don't do it. Cap and limit games provide just as much excitement as 'I' care to play for and that's what is important to me. Playing in an arena you aren't mentally up for can hurt your game. Extra Question #1. FR, #2. Doesn't matter. TAG is a style of play, not an amount of money. |

| re: CAP No Limit and Pot Limit poker Why not just buy in for 30 BBs (I think that's the cap) to a normal game? That way you actually have a mathematical advantage over those with deeper stacks and you can still treat the entire game like everyone (other than 20 BB shortstacks) has 30 BBs. |
